Overview

Beginning with an account of Paul’s life, William S. Plumer’s Commentary on Paul's Epistle to the Romans is a historically rich study guide to Romans and the context of this epistle in the scope of the Scriptures. Plumer found Paul’s writings to be particularly meaningful for Christians, stating that “all evangelical people put a high estimate on Paul’s writings. In them they find great refreshment.” Plumer himself “never was happier than when searching to find out what the Spirit of Christ did signify when he spoke by Paul.” This great theologian dissects the epistle, discussing each verse as well as other contempoary works on Romans. The introduction includes detials on Paul’s life, character, and other writings as context for this significant epistle.
