Overview

In this Old Testament survey, Gary Staats offers great insight into the 12 periods of Old Testament history, and elucidates the Christology of the Old Testament as seen through New Testament lenses. Staats analyzes the Old Testament according to its original tripartite structure—law, prophets, and writings—and presents each book’s themes and meanings. This approach creates the perfect way to dive into the Old Testament’s wisdom and teaching.

The Logos Bible Software edition of this Gary Staats survey is designed to enhance and stimulate your study and understanding of the Old Testament from an ancient Near Eastern perspective. Scripture passages link directly to your English translations and original-language texts, and important theological concepts link to dictionaries, encyclopedias, and a wealth of other resources in your digital library. In addition, you can perform powerful searches by topic and find what other authors, scholars, and theologians have to say about important themes and discussions, such as the tripartite structure of the Hebrew Bible.
