The Protestant church has wrestled since the time of the Reformation with how believers can be saved by grace but rewarded in degrees based on their works. Though some through the years have argued that the Scriptures don't actually teach differing degrees of reward, this has been the predominant view. This book takes the minority view. Believers are saved by grace alone through faith alone, and the believers' rewards and glorification are based on the finished work of Christ alone. It is grace from start to finish. The church is the bride of Christ, and in the end all that is his is hers.
“Grounded in covenant theology with a focus on the pactum
salutis and in Reformed soteriology with an emphasis on
salvation by grace alone, Taylor’s More Than Heaven builds a
fresh case for the minority view that Scripture does not teach
degrees of heavenly reward based on human merit; any eschatological
blessing is earned by Christ alone and obtained by believers by
grace alone.”

“If we believe in justification by faith alone apart from works,
what does that do to the idea of degrees of reward in heaven? Jeff
Taylor does an excellent service in showing from Scripture that
there is only one reward—eternal glory in the new creation, merited
on behalf of all the elect by Christ, the second Adam.”
