Overview

We’re pleased to announce the release of Wright’s magnum opus on Paul, and the fourth part of the Christian Origins and the Question of God series.

As an important scholar of the New Testament and a prolific author and lecturer, N.T. Wright’s books have been highly influential in the study of Jesus, the resurrection, and early Christianity.

Now, in the much-anticipated fourth part of the series, Wright explores Paul’s worldview and theology in light of Second Temple Judaism. He also summarizes and explains all the key areas of debate in contemporary Pauline studies and compiles his most important and influential articles on Paul over the last 30 years.

This collection is essential reading for anyone with a serious interest in Paul and his continuing relevance for today. Logos Bible Software dramatically improves the value of the collection by enabling you to find what you’re looking for with unparalleled speed and precision. The Logos edition is fully searchable and easily accessible. Scripture passages link directly to your preferred English translation and to the original language texts, and important theological concepts link to dictionaries, encyclopedias, and a wealth of resources in your digital library.

Don’t forget to check out N.T. Wright’s latest volume in this series, Paul and His Recent Interpreters.

  • A comprehensive engagement with Paul and his writings from one of the foremost Pauline scholars
  • A survey of the major contributors to the study of Paul’s letters since the Enlightenment
  • A collection of important articles on Paul that span Wright’s career
  • An overview of Wright’s contributions to Pauline studies and the “new perspective” on Paul
The sweep of Wright’s project as a whole is breathtaking. It is impossible to give a fair assessment of his achievement without sounding grandiose: no New Testament scholar since Bultmann has even attempted—let alone achieved—such an innovative and comprehensive account of New Testament history and theology.

Richard B. Hays, George Washington Ivey Professor of New Testament, Duke Divinity School

Eminently accessible to students, scholars will find it interesting and provocative. It deserves a place of privilege on the bookshelf of any serious student of the New Testament.

Paul and the Faithfulness of God (2 parts)

  • Author: N.T. Wright
  • Publisher: Fortress Press
  • Publication Date: 2013
  • Pages: 1,700

This highly anticipated two-part fourth volume in N.T. Wright’s magisterial series, Christian Origins and the Question of God, is destined to become the standard reference point on the subject for all serious students of the Bible and theology. The mature summation of a lifetime’s study, this landmark volume pays a rich tribute to the breadth and depth of the apostle’s vision, and offers an unparalleled wealth of detailed insights into his life, times, and enduring impact.

Wright carefully explores the whole context of Paul’s thought and activity—Jewish, Greek, and Roman, cultural, philosophical, religious, and imperial—and shows how the apostle’s worldview and theology enabled him to engage with the many-sided complexities of first-century life that his churches were facing. Wright also provides close and illuminating readings of the letters and other primary sources, along with critical insights into the major twists and turns of exegetical and theological debate in the vast secondary literature. The result is a rounded and profoundly compelling account of the man who became the world’s first, and greatest, Christian theologian.

Pauline Perspectives: Essays on Paul 1978–2013

  • Author: N.T. Wright
  • Publisher: Fortress Press
  • Publication Date: 2013
  • Pages: 864

This companion volume to Paul and the Faithfulness of God and Paul and His Recent Interpreters brings together N.T. Wright’s most important articles on Paul and his letters over the last three decades. The book begins with Wright’s auspicious essay of 1978, when as a young, aspiring scholar, he gave the annual Tyndale lecture in Cambridge, and proposed, for the first time, “a new perspective” on Pauline theology. The book ends with an expanded version of a paper he gave in Leuven in 2012, when as a seasoned scholar at the height of his powers, he explored the foundational role of Abraham in Romans and Galatians. In all, the 33 articles published here provide a rich feast for all students of Paul, both seasoned and aspiring. Each one will amply reward those looking for detailed, incisive, and exquisitely nuanced exegesis, resulting in a clearer, deeper, and more informed appreciation of Paul’s great theological achievement.

N.T. Wright is the former bishop of Durham in the Church of England and one of the world’s leading Bible scholars. He is now research professor of New Testament and early Christianity at the University of St. Andrews. He is the author of over 50 books, including the ‘For Everyone’ guides to the New Testament, the highly acclaimed series, Christian Origins and the Question of God, and the best-selling Simply Christian, Surprised by Hope, and Virtue Reborn.

I've put this on my wish list, but I can't afford it for now. It's more than double the price on Kindle. I know having it on Logos (with all the links) would be much better, but is it really worth paying double? Couldn't you drop the price, Logos?

Love the book. To the reviewer below: I also had trouble uploading Paul and the Faithfulness of God on my Kindle Fire. Tech support told me to uninstall and then re-install the Logos App. I did that and the book showed up immediately. It also added the newest version of the Logos Kindle App, and it appears to be even better. I hope this helps. -Cheers

These books are great and I have them on Kindle. This set on Logos is overpriced as the Kindle price is $85.98, which is $53.97 more.

The item is great, though much of the content appears in some of Wright's previous works. The most disappointing is that the items can't be opened for reading in my Kindle; I really wonder what happened to Logos..

I've found these volumes very helpful. In general I think N.T. Wright is very thorough and well considered. I have to say I wish he was a bit more to the point... he seems to always want to explain the whole back story. This is very helpful if you don't know it but then on the other hand a bit frustrating when you just want to get to his opinion. So if you have a spare 4 weeks to read it, then it is a five star.

Hey I need some help here. I need to know if the release of this book in Logos will be sometime this month, or if it is going to be an extended process. If I know that it is soon to be released I can wait, but if it may end up being December or later before it is released I will go ahead and pick up the print edition.

I'm surprised that his book "Paul: In Fresh Perspective" isn't included in this list. Though I do not wholeheartedly agree with Wright, his books do challenge how we think about faith and righteousness, and justification and imputation. I will not rate it as it would be unfair because it clashed with a perspective that is already sound. His books, however, are very readable which is more than I can say about a number of Ivory Tower theological books coming out these days. They are not for the lay Christian, but this is where N.T. Wright shines the hardest in my opinion. He has the lay reader in mind.

In our Tuesday NT Seminars with Tom at the Univ. of St. Andrews, we have this term been reading and giving critical feedback on chapters 9 and 10 of *Paul and the Faithfulness of God*. It weaves together his previous thoughts and also gives fresh new material. For example, I find his concept of the loving solidarity of the church as our "worldview symbol" to be of particular help in my research re the intra-ecclesial Second Great Commandment as a foundation for future global Christian civilization.

This is the most exciting news I have ever heard! N T Wright is absolutely awesome, giving us fresh leaves at the same time as keeping us close to the trunk of the tree. For those who have left part of the Bible out, his writings will give you the whole Bible again. N T Wright, Richard Hays , Gordon Fee, Michael Gorman are unsurpassed in their ability to bring us to the heart of the Bible. THANK YOU LOGOS!
