Illustrations of the Bible from the Monuments of Egypt tells in his preface why he wrote it: “ . . . examinations of these [images from] antiquity sufficed to show that they were not only valuable illustrations of the earliest stages of civilization, but that they afforded important, because undesigned, confirmations of the historical veracity of the Old Testament . . . and a careful comparison of the monuments with the Bible has enabled the author…to discover proofs, not only of authenticity in the historical narratives, but also of minute and unsuspected accuracy in the predictions of the prophets.” The 97 high-quality images that Logos has selected from this important nineteenth-century book illustrate many aspects of Egyptian life as it intersected the Old Testament.
