Overview

Wiersbe's "Be" Series on the Old Testament—Practical, devotional, and concise describes the "Be" series. Each of these mini-commentaries contains a wealth of practical insight into God's Word. This resource provides commentary on the book of Ezekial.

As good as dead …

That's how Albert Einstein described people who can no longer wonder and no longer feel amazement.

A sense of wonder and reverence is basic to life and to faith. God revealed incredible things to the Prophet Ezekiel. He saw God's throne on wheels, moving quickly from place to place! He saw an army of skeletons reassemble and come to life! He saw the glory of God leave the old temple and then return to the new temple!

What the church needs today is a return to reverence—reverence for God's name and for God's glory.

The neglected Book of Ezekiel will teach you:

  • How great and wonderful is the glory of God
  • Why reverence for God's name changes our lives
  • How and why God judges sin from generation to generation
  • Why God sees the land of Israel as "the center of the earth"
  • The wonderful plan God has for the nation of Israel

The Book of Ezekiel is a fascinating book that provides insights on history, theology, and practical Christian living as you behold the wonders of the Lord.

“We must correctly distinguish regret, remorse, and true repentance. Regret is an activity of the mind; whenever we remember what we’ve done, we ask ourselves, ‘Why did I do that?’ Remorse includes both the heart and the mind, and we feel disgust and pain, but we don’t change our ways. But true repentance includes the mind, the heart, and the will. We change our mind about our sins and agree with what God says about them; we abhor ourselves because of what we have done; and we deliberately turn from our sin and turn to the Lord for His mercy.” (Page 149)

“God’s prophets must speak from within their hearts or their messages will not be authentic.” (Page 19)

“The only motivation that never fails is doing all for the glory of God.” (Page 19)

“The most difficult task of a prophet is to change people’s minds. This means pulling up the weeds of false theology and planting the good seed of the Word of God. It also means tearing down the flimsy thought structures that false prophets build and constructing in their place lasting buildings on solid foundations of truth (Ezek. 1:10; 2 Cor. 10:3–6). To prepare him for his difficult ministry, the Lord caused Ezekiel to participate in three dramatic experiences.” (Page 12)

“Ezekiel gave the plans for the post-captivity temple.” (Page 183)
