Pastors of established churches everywhere are searching for the secret formula to revitalize their churches. They have paid thousands of dollars for outside consultants only to be disappointed. The answer has been in the very word they preach every Sunday: plant churches. Planting churches results in the church developing a missional mindset that connects them with the heart of God which lies in the process of resurrection and restoration.
“Two friends have written a book. Their theology of church resurrection is solid theology. Their wisdom is solid trench wisdom. Their love for the church is true love. I commend this to you if you dare to believe that the bones of tired churches can live again.”
—Dan Boone, president, Trevecca Nazarene University
“Barrett and Skinner challenge our minds and hearts with this probing question: Can a church experience revitalizing new beginnings while launching new ‘centers of holy fire’? We celebrate the new communities of faith and the Holy-Spirit-breathed ‘new life’ for existing churches! Read this inspiring book and embrace the dream!”
—Jerry D. Porter, general superintendent emeritus, Church of the Nazarene
“Finally, someone addressed the elephant in the room! Church planting and revitalization are not competing ideas fighting over the same people and resources. For decades I have heard clergy fret over ‘too much focus on planting new churches’ and ‘not enough on the existing churches!’ I believe God has given Barrett and Skinner the vision for the direction of leadership for the church. The question is do we have the courage to follow?”
— J. Fred Huff, director of new church development, Georgia District Church of the
Nazarene
