The Five Disciplines for Christians are imperative for spiritual growth. These five disciplines are: fellowship, Bible study, prayer, ministry, and witnessing. The Christian will not grow to maturity in Christ without all five, but most Christians don't know what they are. This book will help the reader to rediscover these ancient biblical practices which will bring them closer to God, transform the world around them, and provide personal fulfillment. The book is broken down into five sections, one for each discipline. Each section provides the biblical mandate, describes the nuances of the discipline, identifies challenges to its practice, and gives tools to enhance one's routine.
“In all the years I’ve known Elliott, his pastoral heart and
sincere care of others pour out of him profusely! I highly respect
Elliott’s patient, kind, and purposeful communication too, and I
know you’ll be blessed by this resource.”
—Dan Nichols, lead pastor, Grace Christian Fellowship
“I have known Elliott Cooke for over thirty-five years. The
principles in his book have been filtered through a life
authentically and consistently lived for the glory of God. The
issues he addresses are core to a fruitful and fulfilling spiritual
life, and the principles he provides are practical and effective.
At a time when the people of God are distracted by many good
things, Elliott calls us afresh to those things that are
essential.”
—Warren Johnson, adult ministries pastor, Bear Valley Church
“There’s not a pastor who doesn’t have a frustration with spiritual
immaturity (his own first, then that of others). But pastor Cooke
demonstrates this more as a kind of friend-heartbreak, with a
passionate desire for God’s people to experience the smile of God
that comes from obedience to God. This will remind, renew, and bear
fruit for readers who respond to his ‘How about you?’ challenges
and practical suggestions from God’s word.”
—Rick Harpel, pastor, First Baptist Church Corvallis

adjunct at both Regent and Liberty Universities. He and his wife,
Lynda, live in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where he pastors Jackson
Street Baptist Church.
