Light as Air offers readers freedom from unmet desires, a way to disrupt broken systems, and an invitation into a life of depth and creative action. How? By exploring the story of Jesus and the way his kingdom engages our dissatisfaction and invites us into the life we were made for. Jesus' kingdom is a political reality that overthrows broken systems, cultivates meaningful connection, and empowers us for creative action. Light as Air shows us how to live into and out of Jesus' kingdom in a way that gives hope to a dissatisfied world.

“More than a roadmap to greater formation, Light as Air gently peels back the layers of our desire, dissatisfaction, and the cultural moment to boldly ask: ‘What are we missing? What else is possible?’ With historical precision, generous care, and a deeply pastoral heart, Jonny Morrison guides us directly into the forming hands of Jesus and the disruptive, provocative power of his kingdom.”

—Nish Weiseth, spiritual director and founder, Formation Northwest

“In a season of disorientation, Light as Air articulates both the reality of our longings and the reasons we so often feel dissatisfied. Through this book, Morrison not only names the cause of our societal bewilderment, but points us towards a path of peace that brought comfort to my weary heart.”

—Leanne Friesen, author of Grieving Room

“Many of us feel existential angst and malaise in the cultural moment we find ourselves in. Light as Air, drawing on history, philosophy, and theology, articulates the vapid imagination at work beneath the surface of our experiences and points us to something better—a better story, a more robust imagination, a fuller life, and ultimately to God.”

—Charles Kiser, co-author of Trauma-Informed Evangelism: Cultivating Communities of Wounded Healers

“We are tired. We are angry. We are frustrated and unhappy. We are Christians living in an unseemly time. And Jonny Morrison’s book arrives to give us something for this moment. Wonderfully winsome, deeply theological, culturally brilliant, Light as Air is a powerful invitation to become part of the new hope-filled world being born in Christ. It’s a tour de force guaranteed to be worth your time.”

—David Fitch, author of Faithful Presence: Seven Disciplines That Shape the Church for Mission

“With the theological insight of an academic and the sharp intuition of a pastor, Jonny Morrison calls us to embrace our dissatisfaction with the world and imagine something bigger. His captivating storytelling opens us up to the real-life possibility of a communal way of life inspired by hope, committed to a nonanxious presence, and capable of taking risks that live up to God’s vision for the world. In our age of anxiety, cynicism, and exhaustion, this book is a breath of fresh air.”

—Fred Liggin, pastor, Williamsburg Christian Church

“What is the ‘good life’ and how do we go about living it? This question has launched a thousand books; I have read many of them. But Light as Air is different. Jonny Morrison has written a book that is very readable without being pithy; that stretches your imagination for the life we were created for, without losing you. I personally will read this book many times and will recommend it as well.”

—Jim Pace, director and lead consultant, Discerning Partners
