Overview

Gospel-Centered Counseling introduces biblical counseling with a focus on Christ’s redemptive work on the cross. The course shows how the gospel applies in everyday situations and emphasizes the power of God’s Word to change lives. It provides sample case studies that teach how to best counsel and minister to broken and hurting people. The course illustrates how the work of Christ can transform both your life and the lives of those you encounter.

Top Highlights

“You see, when we forget the indicatives, the declarations of the gospel, the declarations of the nt, the declarations of everything God has already done for us—when we forget that, then we begin to think of God as being hard, as being like Pharaoh (bricks without straw). We begin to think of God as being demanding and difficult.” (source)

“‘Your sins are forgiven. You can walk in newness of life. Your sins are forgiven.’” (source)

“What that also means is that when we see what He has done for us and how loved, how beloved, how forgiven we are—when we see that, that’s when we begin to change into the image of God.” (source)

“I want to highlight that—that God the Father loves those of us who belong to the Son in the same way that He loves the Son. We now are the beloved. That is amazing. It’s shocking. It’s earth-stopping. We should be completely amazed and blown away by that. Of course, the problem is we don’t live there, and we don’t generally live there primarily because we are sometimes too focused on what we’re supposed to be doing and not thinking about what He has done.” (source)

“No, what we all need to hear over and over again is the good news, which is: You are loved, you are forgiven, you are adopted, you are justified, you are sanctified, you are being sanctified, you are glorified (Paul says, shockingly). You are already glorified. You already have everything in the gospel. Therefore, God will and has promised to transform you.” (source)
