In this book on the miracles of Christ, Butler examines thirty-three miracles which Christ performed during His earthly ministry. He divides these miracles into four categories for study:
John G. Butler, longtime pastor and Bible commentator, is to be commended for his affirmation, alliteration, and application of the biblical text. He provides a treasure chest of biblical truth for the teacher and preacher of the Word of God. I gladly recommend his writings.
—Dr. Franklin L. Kirksey, Pastor, Teacher, Mentor, Writer, Author of Sound Biblical Preaching: Giving the Bible a Voice
I know of no finer collection of resources than Butler. No library is complete without these uncompromising gems of wisdom. After reading the Bible text itself, my next step is always to consult Butler. They are absolutely essential to my Bible study.

“This notation in our text about this miracle being Christ’s first miracle debunks all the stories told about Christ working miracles during His childhood and in the years previous to His public ministry.” (Page 25)
“Choosing a marriage celebration at which to work His first miracle shows that Christ gives great honor to marriage.” (Page 27)
“it is also the first miracle performed in the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ” (Page 24)
“The fact that other boats accompanied the disciples and Christ as they journeyed across the sea speaks, for one thing, of influence. The disciples’ willingness to take Christ across the sea influenced others to go along. We never know how many people we influence. But we often influence a lot more people than we realize. Obedience to Christ will always have a favorable influence. Disobedience will always have a negative influence. May we live so obediently to Christ that it will cause other boats to also follow Christ.” (Page 76)
“So some of Christ’s miracles have commands associated with them which must be obeyed if the miracle is going to occur. Obedience is a key to great blessings. If you are short on blessings, maybe the problem is that you are short on obedience. Improve your obedience and you will improve your blessings.” (Page 40)
