Each commentary is broken into three sections:

The Bible is the story of God and his dealings with humanity from creation to new creation. The Bible is made up more of stories than of any other literary genre. Even the psalms, proverbs, prophecies, letters, and the Apocalypse make complete sense only when set in the context of the grand narrative of the entire Bible. This commentary series breaks new ground by taking all these observations seriously. It asks commentators to listen to the text, to explain the text, and to live the text. Some of the material in these sections overlaps with introduction, detailed textual analysis and application, respectively, but only some. The most riveting and valuable part of the commentaries are the stories that can appear in any of these sections, from any part of the globe and any part of church history, illustrating the text in any of these areas. Tremper Longman III (PhD, Yale University) is the Robert H. Gundry Professor of Biblical Studies and the chair of the Religious Studies department at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, where he lives with his wife, Alice. He is the Old Testament editor for the revised Expositor’s Bible Commentary and general editor for the Story of God Bible Commentary Old Testament and has authored many articles and books on the Psalms and other Old Testament books.
Wendy Widder is an author, teacher, and scholar with a passion for helping people understand the Bible better. She has a PhD in Near Eastern Studies from the University of the Free State and is the author of two books for single adults, a book for Christian school teachers (coauthored with her father), a study of what “teaching” means in the Old Testament, and two forthcoming commentaries on Daniel (The Story of God Bible Commentary and the Zondervan Exegetical Commentary on the Old Testament). She previously worked at Faithlife Corporation, where she helped author half a dozen books for Lexham Press, the publishing arm of Faithlife.

McKnight is a member of the Society Biblical Literature and the Society for New Testament Studies. He has written and edited many award-winning books. He has over 25 books to his name, including Dictionary of Jesus and the Gospels, the volumes on Galatians and 1 Peter in the NIV Application Commentary, and A New Vision for Israel: The Teaching of Jesus in National Context. He was also a speaker at the Pastorum Live 2012 Conference.
Michael F. Bird (PhD, University of Queensland) is lecturer in theology at Ridley Melbourne College of Mission and Ministry in Melbourne, Australia. He is the author of Jesus and the Origins of the Gentile Mission; The Saving Righteousness of God: Studies on Paul, Justification, and the New Perspective; Evangelical Theology; Bourgeois Babes, Bossy Wives, and Bobby Haircuts: A Moderate Case for Gender Equality in Ministry and editor of The Apostle Paul: Four Views.
Mark D. Roberts (PhD, Harvard University) is Executive Director of the Max De Pree Center for Leadership at Fuller Seminary. Previously, he was Senior Director of Laity Lodge and Senior Pastor of Irvine Presbyterian Church in Southern California. He studied at Harvard University, where he received a Ph.D. in New Testament and Christian Origins. He has written several books, including his most recent: Can We Trust the Gospels? (Crossway, 2007).

He is on the advisory council of the BioLogos Foundation, and is the Old Testament editor for the revised Expositor’s Bible Commentary and general editor for the Story of God Bible Commentary Old Testament, and has authored many articles and books on the Psalms and other Old Testament books.
Scot McKnight (PhD, Nottingham) is the Julius R. Mantey Professor of New Testament at Northern Seminary in Lombard, Illinois. He is the author of more than fifty books, including the award-winning The Jesus Creed as well as The King Jesus Gospel, A Fellowship of Differents, One.Life, The Blue Parakeet, and Kingdom Conspiracy.
