Through this study, readers will discover the answer to those age-old questions: Where did I come from? Why am I here? What is the purpose of my life? The answers to these questions and many more are found in this in-depth study. Genesis also sets the stage for God’s plan of redemption and plants the seeds of many important doctrines and Christian teachings that unfold in the rest of the Bible. Without Genesis, the Bible is incomprehensible, which makes this a “must” study!
“The question is often asked, ‘Where did Cain get his wife?’” (Page 53)
“Instead of begging forgiveness, Cain only compounds his sin with lying and arrogance. His response further supports the theory that Cain’s very heart, disordered by sin, was the cause for God’s rejection of his offering.” (Page 53)
“The Hebrew word for wind is ruach; the same word is used for spirit or breath. With this understanding of wind, we see that it was the Third Person of the Trinity—the Spirit of God—that moved over the face of the waters. Thus, the first movement in creation was by means of water and Spirit. This cooperative action is seen again in God’s second creation, that of the Church: we are born again into Christ by water and Spirit (John 3:3–5), as demonstrated by Jesus himself at his baptism (Matthew 3:16).” (Page 11)
“Just as a woman played a key role in initiating the fall of mankind through disobedience, it will be a woman who will initiate the restoration of mankind through obedience. In the Garden of Eden, a fruit from a tree brought about death; there will be another garden, and on the tree of the cross will hang a fruit that will bring life.” (Page 43)
“We must always remember the purpose of the ‘story’ of Genesis—that it was inspired and recorded so that Man might know the who and the why of creation, not that Man might know the science of the what and the how of creation.” (Page 12)
