“Contextually, the salvation in Rom 10:9–10 is picked up in the word ‘save’ (sōzō) in v 13 where a quotation from Joel 2:32 is given: ‘whoever calls on the name of the lord shall be saved.’ It is important to note that in verse 10b to confess with one’s mouth brings salvation, but in verse 13 to call on the name of the Lord brings salvation. The logical conclusion is that a similarity or equation exists between confessing with the mouth and calling on the name of the Lord.
