Overview

The Joy of Love (Amoris Laetitia) is the post-synodal apostolic exhortation published in April 2016 that followed the two Synods on the family that convened in 2014 and 2015 by Pope Francis. It contains the most comprehensive statement of Catholic teaching on marriage and family since the last apostolic exhortation concerning marriage and family, Familaris Consortio, following the 1980 synod on the family.

Astounding in its breadth and depth of teaching on marriage and family concerns, Pope Francis sought to refocus the Church’s attention on the centrality of the family for the life of the Church and address the myriad of concerns facing the family in the modern world.

Now you have the chance to add The Joy of Love (Amoris Laetitia) to your library and study it alongside Familiaris Consortio, the Catechism, the Bible, and decide for yourself!

“The family is thus the place where parents become their children’s first teachers in the faith. They learn” (Page 13)

“Love always has an aspect of deep compassion that leads to accepting the other person as part of this world, even when he or she acts differently than I would like.” (Page 73)

“The family is the first school of human values, where we learn the wise use of freedom” (Page 206)

“one of the most important tasks of families is to provide an education in hope.” (Pages 206–207)
