Overview
Which Bible translation is the best? Christians love to argue about this. But it’s always the wrong question, because it’s incomplete. We should ask, “Which Bible translation is best for a given purpose?” Which translations are best for close study, for evangelism, for preaching, for reading big chunks quickly? This brief course teaches students how to choose the right translation for the right task.

This is a nice, easy to follow, brief presentation that lays out a very practical way of looking at different Bible translations and versions. I submit that it is well worth your time to watch the videos in this short course. If you've grown up with, or spent many years using a particular version or translation, it may not be obvious why other translations can be helpful. This easy-to-follow course shows the value of reading more than one translation. There are longer books on this topic, but if you only have a few minutes, this course is an excellent introduction and overview.

Nice presentation, Dr. Ward, although the main question remains unanswered (or does it remain unanswered simply be cause it is unanswerable?): which English Bible translation remains the best, and the most suited, for ALL purposes (homilesis, apologesis, personal devotions, liturgy, pastoral work, literary presentations, theological presentations and expositions, &c.)? I posit that that question is not unanswerable, but I believe finding the answer to that question takes time, even a life time, perhaps; but it is worth finding the answer still, in my opinion.
