Menahem Nahum of Chernobyl (1730–1797) was rabbi of Chernobyl, near Kiev, in Ukraine. He was part of the Hasidic movement that played a key role in the history of eastern European Jewry. Rabbi Menachem Nochum Twersky of Chernobyl (1730-1787) was the founder of the Chernobyl Hasidic dynasty. He was a disciple of the Baal Shem Tov and the Maggid of Mezritch, and published one of the first works of Hasidic thought.
