“The Promise of the Law is the reward of the blessing of God gained through absolute obedience. In order to gain the blessing of God, your obedience must be: (1) personal: ‘If you listen to the commandment’ (Deut. 11:26); (2) perfect: ‘what does the LORD your God require from you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul’ (Deut. 10:12); (3) perpetual: ‘Oh, that they had such a heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always’ (Deut. 5:29. The only obedience acceptable before God is one in which 100% of you keeps 100% of the Law 100% of the time. ‘For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all’ (Jm. 2:10).” (Pages 20–21)

“Once God freely decided out of His sovereign electing love to save sinners, there was but one way of bringing about this desired salvation which would be in harmony with God’s character, the law of God, the nature of sin and the needs of man. This one way was by the substitutionary blood atonement of the incarnate Son of God.” (Page 13)

“False religion always views man as seeking God and providing for his own salvation while Christianity views God as seeking man and providing salvation for him. The Scriptures view men as guilty rebellious sinners who are running from God as fast as they can (Rom. 1:18).” (Page 3)

“If you were asked ‘Can God do anything?’ how would you answer? It would seem that the only pious answer is that God can do anything. Yet upon closer examination, it is clear that God cannot do everything, for He cannot do anything which contradicts His character or nature. All things are possible for God as long as they do not contradict His character or nature for ‘He cannot deny Himself’ (2 Tim. 2:13).” (Page 13)

This book is 'practical' in the best sense; not a mere simplification, but an attempt to communicate solid content; to warm the heart; and to move the will to obedience as well as to inform the mind. This is done quite skillfully without any reluctance to get into some depth.

—Dr. John Frame, former faculty, Westminster Theological Seminary

Dr. Morey has provided a very useful work dealing with both the accomplishment and the application of the redemptive work of Christ. This is presented in a straightforward manner with all the major issues to be considered. An interesting original approach to the order of salvation is to be noted.

—Dr. Roger Nicole, Gordon Conwell Seminary
