Logos Research Systems, Inc.
- A Profitable (!) Ebook Publisher -

Logos Research Systems, Inc., a privately held eBook publisher, is embarking upon its second decade of profitable operations, investing and expanding in the midst of an economic downturn that has proven lethal to many high-tech companies. Logos has leveraged its niche Bible software market in order to expand into academic and reference markets through a subsidiary, Libronix Corporation.

"With all the negative reports coming from the electronic publishing industry, people overlook the quiet success of companies serving niche markets," said Bob Pritchett, president and CEO, Logos Research Systems, Inc. "We remain profitable by identifying and serving the very specific needs of our customers, whether in the academic, reference, or religious markets."

Industry Leaders

In 1992, Logos founders Bob Pritchett and Kiernon Reiniger produced the first commercial Bible software for Windows: Logos Bible Software for Microsoft Windows v1.0. The company followed this up with version 2.0 in 1995, which became one of the first commercial applications to use Unicode technology. Since those early years Logos has continued to lead the eBook industry by its commitment to multilingual texts and interface (working with both Asian and European languages), by pioneering the transition from electronic books to digital libraries (transforming information into answers), and through innovative work in keylinking (dynamically generating relevant links between texts).

eBook Formats

Logos has published more than 2500 eBooks. Titles for Microsoft Reader, Gemstar eBook, and Palm are available at online bookstores Barnes & Noble, Powell's Books, and Titles for the company's proprietary formats-the Logos Library System (LLS) and the Libronix Digital Library System (LDLS)-are primarily targeted to religious markets.
