Oracle Senior Application Developer Moves to Logos Bible Software
BELLINGHAM, WA—August 24, 2009—Logos Bible Software announced today the hire of Peter Venable, former Senior Application Developer at Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) to fill a key technical position in the Software Development department.
"I'm really excited by the opportunity to work with software, language, and the Bible all at once," said Venable. "When I visited Logos, I was impressed by the beauty of Bellingham and the great work Logos is doing. It seems like a really great work environment with people who really care."
Venable has been working with computers since his childhood and by high school had made several games, a database system for a library, and music software. Attending college at Seattle Pacific University and then Carnegie Mellon, Peter began to combine his interests in language and computers, earning a PhD while devising software to parse various languages and translate them to English automatically.
"We are happy to welcome Peter to the Logos family," said Bob Pritchett, President of Logos Bible Software. "Not only does he bring a wealth of programming skill with him, but his passion for languages makes him an obvious fit for Logos."
Prior to working for Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL), Venable was a Principal Scientist at Haley Limited, a leading provider of policy modeling and automation software for regulated industries such as public sector, financial services and insurance.
