BELLINGHAM, WA, Sept. 23 — Logos Bible Software announced today that the company’s newly-created academic editor position has been filled by Mike Heiser.

As Academic Editor, Mike will help Logos build new scholarly tools and resources by managing electronic text and database products related to Greek, Hebrew, and in-depth Bible study. He will also represent Logos within the academic community.

Before coming to Logos, Mike taught theology, biblical studies, biblical languages, and world civilizations on the undergraduate level for 12 years.

"Bringing Mike on board is another big step forward as we work to meet the needs of scholarly users doing serious research into the biblical texts," said Bob Pritchett, president and CEO, Logos Bible Software. "We’ve launched half a dozen initiatives in this area that are resulting in brisk sales growth to students and faculty nationwide."

Other recent announcements in this area include the commissioning of the Fairhaven Hebrew-English Interlinear Bible and the formation of a $100,000 fund to advance the creation of new academic reference projects for electronic delivery.

Heiser’s Bio

Mike Heiser just finished his Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible and ancient Semitic Languages from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has also earned two M.A. degrees in the fields of ancient history (Egyptology and Syria Palestine) from the University of Pennsylvania and biblical Hebrew from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Mike’s graduate work has resulted in his ability to do translation work in over a dozen ancient languages and dialects, including biblical Hebrew and Greek, Aramaic, Ugaritic, Akkadian, Egyptian, and Syriac. His dissertation focused on divine plurality in the faith of Israel and first century Judaism, as revealed in late canonical literature from the Hebrew Bible and apocryphal and pseudepigraphical texts from the Second Temple period.

He moved to the area with Drenna, his wife of 17 years, and their four young children.
