How to Avoid Blunders on Stage

Raise your hand if you’ve been here before:
You’re about to transition to a new verse or point in your sermon, when all of a sudden you can’t remember what’s next. Or you allude to the next slide in the presentation, only to see that you were wrong about the next slide. Now you’re busy backtracking.

These are the blunders a confidence monitor can save you from.

What is a confidence monitor?

Aptly named, a confidence monitor helps you lead more confidently. It’s is a screen that shows those onstage what the current slide is, as well as the beginning of the next.

Whereas the congregation can only see the verse lyric, those up front can see all the text just for them, too.

I’ve used one of these personally when leading music, and I can say it’s very helpful.

There are times when you lose your place or want to prepare the congregation for the next slide. Having a monitor down front that you can see at a quick glance—rather than turning to look at the screen the congregation is using—keeps things running smoothly.

Check out this tutorial for thorough instructions on setting up a confidence monitor.
