Some individual Guide sections have the same name but different purposes. For example:
- Lemma in Passage can assist with passages or words
- Thematic Outlines can help with passages or preaching themes
- Atlas can aid with passages or topics
If we open these individual sections from the Guides menu, we have no problem because the menu is organized into groups like Bible Reference Guides, Topic Guides, Word Guides, etc. However, if we’re fond of using the Go box to open Guide sections, then prior to Logos 9.3, we may have encountered some confusion. Thankfully, that confusion vanished in 9.3.
Let me show you a small change in 9.3 that potentially could save you some frustration:
- Type Open Thematic Outlines in the Go box (A)
- Notice in the drop-down list:
Open Thematic Outlines Bible reference (B)
Open Thematic Outlines Preaching Theme (C)
Those labels following Thematic Outlines comprise the new 9.3 feature. So if you’re wanting outlines containing John 3:16, you now easily know which item to select from the list. Yes, it’s a small tweak to the software, but very helpful nonetheless!
To see other examples of the Guide labels, type these commands in the Go box:
- Open Atlas
- Open Biblical Events
- Open Biblical People
- Open Biblical Place
- Open Biblical Things
- Open Illustrations
- Open Journals
- Open Lemma in Passage
- Open Media Collections
- Open Media Resources
- Open Passages
- Open Sermons
- Open Theme
- Open Topic
Please keep in mind, this feature is just one of several changes in the recently released Logos 9.3 update. If you’d like to access video training for all of the 9.3 changes, please consider a subscription at mpseminars.com.
