What Will Happen to My Notes in BibleWorks?

You may be wondering what to do with the notes and other user content you’ve created with BibleWorks through the years. We’re working on a tool to help you import that data into Logos. We’re still exploring the possibilities, and will share updates in the Logos forums when we know more.

How to Use Logos Like a BibleWorks Pro

If you decide to transition, you don’t have to leave the things you love about BibleWorks behind. In this blog post, Mark Ward shares how he eased his own transition to Logos by combining the best of what both programs offer.

Layouts

Set up your preferred workspace, with all the resources and tools you want to access quickly to study a particular book or topic. It’s easy to set up Logos to mimic the BibleWorks layout.

Morphology Search

Like Bibleworks, Logos provides powerful tools to search for original language words by their lemma, morphological form, or surface form, and narrow the search according to your needs.

Textual Variants

We know you’re serious about studying the textual transmission of the Bible. With Logos, you can search textual commentaries, compare primary texts with modern Bible editions, and explore scanned photos of original Bible manuscripts.

Greek Grammatical Constructions

Explore Greek and Hebrew grammar using search syntax in the command box, or by clicking through menus. You can quickly find grammatical constructions, compare their use by different biblical authors, and highlight these constructions in your Bible of choice.

Lexicon Outlining

Logos makes it easier than ever to explore the meaning of biblical words. You’ll love the way we’ve formatted top lexicons to be more user-friendly, providing the information you need, fast.

Can I bring my notes and other user content from BibleWorks to Logos?

Logos is working on a plan to help you preserve your notes and data. Details will be announced in the forums and on this page.
Meanwhile, we recommend saving a backup of your BibleWorks notes. By default, the notes are in Program Files/Bible Works 10/notes (in Mac OS X, open Terminal and do this).
If you want a running backup of your notes, you can set up BibleWorks to save your notes to a Dropbox folder. Just open up the Notes tab and find the “Choose Notes Directory” button, and change the directory to a folder in Dropbox or another cloud service. No matter what your future is with Bible software, do something right away to protect your notes: you do not have to lose them.
