Did you know that you can define your own dynamic collections in Logos? Using the Collections menu, you can create your own collections, or "groups of resources". You can then specifically search those collections to narrow the results and find exactly what you need -- faster than searching your entire library.
Step 1: Creating a Collection
- Go to Tools >
Collections. - Choose "New" to start a new collection or click on "Open" to select a previous collection.
- Enter a name for your collection. Be sure to use something you'll remember, for example: "All English Bibles".
- Check the box, "Show in parallel resources" if you'd like to access these books from the
Parallel Resources button.
Step 2: Defining your Collection
Collections in Logos are defined by "rules". These rules make them dynamic. If you add a new resource to your library, and it matches the rule in a collection, Logos will add it to that collection automatically.
This is how it works (we will stick to our "All English Bibles" example above).
- Enter a "rule" to start your collection.
- In the "rules" field, enter "type:Bible".
- Insert the modifier, "AND", then add "lang:English".

This builds a collection of all resources of the type, "Bible", that are also tagged for the "English" language. You could use this technique to group any similar resources by types, authors, subjects, languages, etc.
Advanced Tip: We used a modifier, "AND" to build this collection. Try using other modifiers, like "ANDNOT" & "OR" to help define your collection rules. These modifiers can also be used in Searches.
Step 3: Refining your Collection
Now that you have a basic collection defined by a rule, we can refine it by manually removing unwanted resources. Just drag unwanted resources to the "Minus these resources" section.

I have two editions of the King James Version and I only want to use the newer edition, so I have moved the "Authorized Version" to this section. It will not be included in searches that use this collection, but this does not remove it from the Library.
Alternate Method: Click & Drag
If you're defining a small collection, and you don't need it to dynamically update itself, you can build one manually by dragging resources from the Library.
This can also be done directly from the Collections panel. Type a rule the includes the resource you want and drag it to the appropriate area above the list. You can remove the rule later without losing resources you've manually included or excluded with this method.

For example, if you just want a quick collection of your favorite Study Bible Notes, you can drag them over from the Library -- no rule required.
- Open the
Library. - Find the resource you want to add.
- Click & Drag it to the "Plus these resources" section.
- Repeat as needed with additional books.
Saving and Printing Collections
Collections are saved automatically. You don't have to do anything further. Just close the panel when you're done, or click "New"/"Open" to switch to another collection right away.
-
We can also print or export a collection list or bibliography.
- Open a Collection.
- Click the
Panel Menu icon. - Select Print/Export.
- Click "Print" or choose one of the export options on the right-side.
Note: This will print a list of the resources in your collection, not the contents of each book.
