Q: What is new in Logos Bible Software 4?
A: Logos Bible Software 4 is all new. We designed it to be the best possible tool for helping more people do more and better Bible study, and it’s ready to meet that goal. Here is a list, along with a brief summary of New Features in Logos 4.
Q: Why should I upgrade?
A: You should upgrade to take advantage of the cheapest collection of books you may ever have the opportunity to buy, and to make sure you have the latest and greatest tools for Bible study. The new base packages almost all contain thousands of dollars of new content for pennies on the dollar. The average user’s discount on the new content is around 94% off the value of the new books that they are getting. For example, the average old Scholar's Library to new Scholar's Library upgrade contains $2,250.00 worth of new content for just $127.50 on sale (about 94% off).
Q: Is there a version of Logos 4 for Mac users?
A: Yes, Logos 4 is a multi-platform Bible software. Please visit www.logos.com/mac for more information about Logos 4 for Mac.
Q: How can I get the free download of the core Logos 4 engine?
A: We strongly recommend not choosing the free engine because much of what makes Logos 4 shine, like our databases, new media resources and reverse interlinears, is included in our base packages and base package upgrades. If you're looking for a less expensive route to get the core Logos 4 data and resources, consider purchasing the Minimal Crossgrade.
The free download of the Windows version of the core Logos 4 engine is available from http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/Installer/Logos4Setup.exe. A free download of the latest version of the core Logos 4 Mac engine is available from http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LBS4MacInstaller/Logos4Mac.dmg.
Note: The free downloads do not support viewing your resources through the Logos iPhone app. Visit www.logos.com/4ways to view all your options for getting Logos 4.
Q: Where can I see a list of all the contents in each package?
A: All the Logos Bible Software 4 base packages have been reconfigured with new content. For a complete list of the exact contents in each package, as well as a list of just the new contents for that package, please click on the base package you are interested in on our product page. The full list of contents is available from the "All Content" link on each product's page.
Q: What is missing in Logos 4 that was in the Libronix Digital Library System (Logos 3)?
A: Because Logos 4 is all new, users of the Libronix DLS will find that the new design puts favorite features or functionality in new places. We hope you'll find them even more powerful and much easier to use. In a few cases, we put off redesigning and re-implementing features of the Libronix DLS. Here is an outline of features coming soon to Logos 4.
Q: What is the End-User License Agreement (EULA)?
A: The EULA is the license every user agrees to when they purchase and install a copy of Logos Bible Software 4. A copy of the license agreement is available at http://www.logos.com/ArticleViewer/2090.
Q: Can I order a DVD and download it too?
A: Existing customer upgrades, yes. First time customers with new base packages, no. If you are an existing user and would like to receive a DVD as well as a download for your upgrade, simply select the DVD option and you will be able to initiate a download as well. If you are ordering a base package for the first time you will only receive your purchase by the delivery method you choose.
Q: What are my Logos.com website Login and Password?
A: Your web login is the email address you used to register at Logos.com. Your user-created password was entered during the New User registration process. Both email address and password can be changed once you have logged in to your Logos web account.
If you have forgotten your password, please go to www.logos.com/login and click the "Forgot your password" link. If you do not remember which address you created your account with, contact Customer Support by phone at (800) 875-6467 or by email at support@logos.com.
Q: How do I copy Logos 4 books to my hard drive?
A: The final step in the installation includes the download and indexing of your library. Logos automatically copies your books to your hard drive by downloading them from our server. Logos 4 will also index your entire library word-for-word so you can search thousands of books in less time than it takes to pull one print book from the shelf. Depending on the size of your library, this may take a while, but once it’s completed, you can spend more time studying and less time searching. Read more about indexing.
Q: How long will it take to download my base package?
A: Base packages range in size from 450MB to 8GB. If you have a high-speed internet connection, your download could take anywhere from 30 minutes to 48 hours. If you're an existing customer, Logos 4 may also download the resources you already own, which will make download times even longer. Downloading is the best choice for fast internet connections, or if you’re able to download for many hours. If you have dial-up, slower internet, or metered-use internet, we strongly recommend choosing the DVD method.
Q: How long will it take to index my base package?
A: Indexing prepares your library for fast and accurate searching and begins after the downloading has finished. Indexing times vary significantly based on the speed of your computer and the number of resources you own. Expect this process to take anywhere from 2-3 hours for newer computers and up to 2-3 days for older computers. A Logos 4 icon in your computer's system tray indicates whether indexing is underway and provides an estimated time remaining. It is not necessary to be connected to the internet while Logos 4 is indexing. Read more about indexing.
Q: How do I install Logos 4 on a second computer?
A: The license goes with the user. You may install Logos 4 on personal home/work computers only. You can install Logos 4 by inserting the installation DVD and running the installation process, by clicking the link to the Logos 4 installer in your email receipt or by going to your order at https://www.logos.com/user/MyOrders and clicking on the order number corresponding to your Logos 4 purchase
Q: How do I purchase new books?
A: Logos 4 allows you to build a library tailored to your specific study needs! In addition to the collection of books purchased in base packages, there are thousands more books from over one hundred publishers that can be integrated into Logos 4. Logos.com features more books you can download individually or buy as collections. This is your best source for the newest titles. All online purchases will require you to Sign In to Logos.com. If you don't have a current Logos.com account, you will need to register. Be sure to fill in all required fields. Returning users should sign in before shopping. (See previous question about the web login and password).
Q: How can I check for updates in Logos 4?
A: When Logos 4 is opened, updates to the software will automatically be downloaded to your computer if both "Automatically Download Updates" and "Use Internet" are enabled under Tools | Settings | Program Settings. The program will close and reopen during the update process.
Q: What is the latest Logos 4 build?
A: 4.3 sr-3 (4.30.0.1592)
Q: Where are my interlinear Bibles?
A: Logos 4 takes a new approach to reverse interlinears. They are no longer separate resources, but they're now integrated into many of the English Bibles in your library. To see the Interlinear of a Bible version, open that Bible version, click the Display button at the top of the Bible window, and checkmark "Inline".
Q: How do I change Keylink options?
A: Keylinking has been replaced with Resource Prioritization. This means you can prefer certain resources over others. You no longer need to set a Keylink for each data type (Greek, Hebrew, Strong's Number, etc.).
Q: Are print editions available?
A: Logos Bible Software publishes electronic books; we do not publish print editions. However, some of our publishing partners do include print editions of their electronic books in some of their products. You can search our website for products that include print editions by entering the word "paperback" or "hardcover" in the main Search box in the top left corner.
Q: Is there an instruction manual?
A: Logos 4 comes with help files within the software. Open the help files by clicking on the question mark icon located at the top-right corner of the program, by typing Help in the Command Bar, or by pressing the F1 key.
Training articles and tutorial videos are available online. A Tutorial CD is included in all Logos Bible Software 4 Base Collections. Morris Proctor, an independent professional trainer who conducts Camp Logos seminars, has also written a 2-volume Logos Bible Software Training Manual.
You can learn about Logos 4 on several pages like www.logos.com/4, www.logos.com/logos4, www.logos.com/videos, the Logos blog, and the Logos community forums.
Q: Will Logos 4 run on my computer?
A: Logos 4 was written to take advantage of the latest technology and will run best on a newer computer. If your computer is more than two years old, performance may be sluggish. If your computer is two years old or less, it should run Logos 4 satisfactorily. The exception to this would be Netbooks, many of which don't have sufficient power to handle Logos 4. For more details on what kind of computer you’ll need for Logos 4, see our system requirements.
Q: I thought Logos 4 was supposed to be super fast. Why does it seem to be slower for me?
A: On new computers, Logos 4 performs very nicely. Searching thousands of resources usually takes less than a couple of seconds. On older computers, Logos 4 can be sluggish. We recommend purchasing a computer that meets the system requirements or sticking with Logos 3 until you can.
Q: How do I install all of the existing books that I use in Logos 3?
A: If you have already activated/unlocked your Logos 3 resources, Logos 4 will automatically download those resources from our servers along with the base package that you purchased. You can also load books from your Logos 3 disks by putting them into your drive and typing “Scan DVD” into the Command Bar in Logos 4. Restart Logos 4 to begin the scanning of the disk.
Q: Can I continue to run Logos 3 on my Mac and/or PC if I upgrade to Logos 4?
A: Yes. Logos 3 can run side by side with Logos 4 without any problems. We invite you to continue to use both as you make the transition to Logos 4.
Q: Can I buy a Logos 4 base package or do a base package upgrade and use my new books on Logos 3 on my Mac and/or PC?
A: Yes. The majority of the books in Logos 4 will run on Logos 3 on both Mac and PC. However, since Logos 4 books are in a different file format, you will need to purchase a separate media only disk to get the books in the proper file format. These media only disks will include the Libronix 3.0g engine plus all resources contained in the Christian Home through Portfolio Logos 4 base packages.
