Include Footnotes when Copying

Question:

Why is it that when I uncheck the option Include footnotes when copying in Tools | Options | General | Interface, footnotes are still created in my word processor.

Answer:

The option Include footnotes when copying is used to control embedded footnotes in the copied text, not the creation of a citation footnote in the target document. (Note: You can change the Citation Style by going to Tools | Options | General | General.)

Example:

In the New American Standard, the text for Genesis 1:2 has various footnotes.

If this text is copied and pasted into a word processing document with Include footnotes when copying unchecked, Libronix will copy the text of the verse and it will create a footnote to the New American Standard Bible, which will look like this:

 New American Standard Bible : 1995 update. 1995 (Ge 1:2). LaHabra, CA: The Lockman Foundation.

It will not, however, copy the information that is referred to in the footnotes in the verse.  Checking Include footnotes when copying will, however, include all that material in the body of the footnote and it will look like this:

2 Lit face of
c Ps 104:30; Is 40:13, 14
d Deut 32:11; Is 31:5
3 Or hovering
 New American Standard Bible : 1995 update. 1995 (Ge 1:1). LaHabra, CA: The Lockman Foundation.

The same principle applies to the setting Include footnotes when printing.
