Northwestern Publishing House (NPH) became a combined bookstore and printing operation in 1891 with most of its publications in German. The Gemeingdeblatt (Congregation Paper), first published in 1865, was the first periodical produced by the synod. After moving to its own building in 1914, Northwestern Publishing House began to produce a wider variety of products, including many hardcover books that were elaborately embossed and stamped.
Today, the mission of Northwestern Publishing House is to deliver Biblically sound Christ-centered resources within the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod and beyond. They strive to be a premier resource for quality Lutheran materials faithful to the Scriptures and Lutheran confessions.
Northwestern Publishing House produces a variety of publications including the popular The People’s Bible commentary series and the theological journal Wisconsin Lutheran Quarterly. The Northwestern Publishing House Electronic Library: Collection One (100 vols.) includes the complete text of The People’s Bible series, 40 volumes of Wisconsin Lutheran Quarterly, Sermon Studies, and several other resources!
