In a world of tolerance and pluralism, where religious issues have become politically charged, and where suffering and sin permeate the fabric of our culture—how is the Gospel relevant? How can we communicate with our unbelieving friends and coworkers in a way that isn’t pushy or judgmental? In a world that’s heard it all before and no longer seems to care, where do we begin?

The Moody Apologetics Collection (5 Vols.) gives you the tools to define and defend your faith in a culture of increasing skepticism, doubt, and hostility toward Christianity. From explaining the differences between Christianity and Islam, to learning how to share the Gospel in daily life, these authors write from a perspective that is theologically rich, philosophically grounded, and pastorally meaningful. The books introduce you to various cults and movements—such as Mormonism and Scientology—explain common arguments against Christianity, and equip you with tools to defend your faith.

What’s more, with the Logos edition, you can employ the powerful search features in your digital library to find everything you need on a particular topic. All Scripture references display the text of the Bible on mouseover, and link directly to the Bibles in your digital library (that you own). That makes the Logos edition immanently accessible for anyone interested in discovering the tools to defend their faith!

  • Publisher: Moody Publishers, 2009
  • 200 pages

Sample Pages: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

In a world that's growing more hostile to the Gospel, what can Christians do? How can we communicate with our unbelieving friends and coworkers in a way that won't seem pushy, intolerant, or judgmental? In a world that's heard it all before and no longer seems to care, where do we begin?

By sowing.

In Finding Common Ground, Tim Downs reminds us of the forgotten biblical art of sowing and shows us practical and effective ways to:

  • Bring up spiritual subjects with busy and distracted people
  • Use secular movies and books to talk about biblical ideas
  • Overcome prejudice and stereotypes in our listeners
  • Keep open doors of communication with even hostile opponents
  • Move everyone we meet a step closer to the Gospel

Tim Downs is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Indiana University in Graphic Design. After graduation in 1976 he created a comic strip, Downstown, which was syndicated by Universal Press Syndicate until 1986. His cartooning has appeared in more than a hundred newspapers worldwide. In 1979 he joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ, where he founded and directed the Communication Center, a communication training facility, for seventeen years. He continues to serve as a speaker and writer. He and his wife, Joy, have spoken at FamilyLife Marriage and Parenting Conference since 1985. His first book, Finding Common Ground, was awarded the Gold Medallion Award in 2000.

Islam and the Bible: Why Two Faiths Collide

  • Author: David Goldman
  • Publisher: Moody Publishers, 2004
  • 200 pages

Sample Pages: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

Christianity and Islam—what's the difference?

Many people today hear mixed messages about Islam. Is it a religion of peace, or one of fear and violence? And aren't Christianity and Islam similar since both believe in the one, true God? But the differences between the two faiths are vast. In Islam and the Bible: Why Two Faiths Collide, veteran missionary and apologist David Goldmann explores Islam in the light of Christianity.

Join Goldmann on a thoughtful, systematic tour through the Bible and the Quran as he explores your questions, such as:

  • Is Islam peaceful or militant?
  • How do both religions view God, Jesus, and salvation?
  • What are the pillars and practices of Islam?
  • Why do these two ancient faiths collide?

In the end, learn that the greatest difference between Islam and Christianity is Jesus Christ. And learn how to begin meaningful dialogues and relationships with your Muslim neighbors.

David Goldmann spent nearly a quarter of a century ministering among Muslims in North Africa, and eight years with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Goldmann serves with Frontiers and conducts seminars on understanding Islam and sharing the Gospel with Muslims.

Out of a rich background of biblical studies and missionary service in North Africa, David Goldmann tells us what our Muslim neighbors believe and equips us to be aware, to care, and to share our faith.
—Warren W. Wiersbe, author and conference speaker
Confused about Muslims and Islam? Wishing someone would make sense of the conflict between Muslims and the West? Wish you could really understand where Muslims are coming from? Need a book that's easy to follow, is fair to the Muslim, but doesn't gloss over the facts and issues? This is the book you've been waiting for.
—Greg Livingston, founder and former director, Frontiers

What the Cults Believe

  • Author: Irvine Robertson
  • Publisher: Moody Publishers, 1991
  • 224 pages

Sample Pages: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

You see them at airports and at shopping centers. They knock on your doors or enter your house via radio. They are called Moonies, Mormons, Scientists, and Mediators.

Who are these people who claim to be people of God? Exactly what do they believe? How can you tell if they are members of cults?

And what about the New Age? Although it is not a cult, why do so many thousands of people cling to a movement with no organization, no founder, no absolutes, no statement of beliefs, no good or evil, no God, and no "reality"? Where did the New Age originate?

Irvine Robertson has done extensive research into the New Age as well as into cults such as Hare Krishna, the Unification of Sun Myung Moon, TM, and more. He explains simply and clearly what each group believes and where each deviates from biblical teaching.

Don't be fooled. Know the signs of the cults, and be prepared to offer a positive yet loving offensive to meet their false doctrines. What the Cults Believe will prepare you to answer cultist claims with the truth of the Word of God.

Irvine Robertson was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 1938 and served as a missionary in India for eighteen years. He is a former faculty member of the Moody Bible Institute and former professor of MBI's evening school program in Boynton Beach, Florida.

If you would like to understand diaferent perspectives from groups that adapt the title 'Christian,' but do not hold to the historic doctrines of the faith, then this is a good book for you. Robertson does a nice job of first presenting an overview of the group, followed by a historical overview, and then goes into the major beliefs of each movement. This book will provide you with a fast overview regarding many cult/occult movements.
