Logos Bible Software Series X v2.1
What's New! (February 2004)
The Libronix Digital Library System, the technology underneath Logos Bible Software Series X, just keeps getting better.
We’ve listened to your feedback, made lots of improvements, and created new features to assist in Bible study. Below you’ll find Libronix DLS 2.1 improvements and new features listed by component. A detailed list of changes to the latest Libronix DLS 2.1 version, 2.1c (primarily bug fixes; released December 2004), is also available.
How do I get these updates? Updates to the Libronix DLS are free over the Internet. Go to the Libronix DLS Download Page for instructions.
Please note: Different products contain different Addin modules. Libronix Update will update only the addin modules and resources you already own. Depending on which package you own, you may not have all of the Addins described below.
Libronix DLS Core Software
Speed Search All Open Resources
This new command has been added to the Right Click | Selected Text | [Text] context menu. Speed Search All Open Resources makes it easy to right-click on any word in a text and perform an instant search for that word in all resources you have open...speeding up yet another common Bible study task.
KeyLinking
KeyLinking has been improved to search your promoted resources more thoroughly before moving on to the default resources. If you have promoted KeyLink resources, Libronix will work harder to find matches in them first. (Note: The software will work just fine without changing KeyLink preferences. It's simply a way for advanced users to customize the software. For advice on which resources to promote, see the series of tutorial articles on Greek, Hebrew, and English KeyLinking.)
In addition, changes have been made to improve handling of Hebrew KeyLinks. Hebrew resources now support dagesh-insensitive KeyLinking and there is improved KeyLinking for Hebrew words ending in final-qaph + sheva. Also, KeyLink prefers the part of the word that was clicked on (e.g., instead of always using the Hebrew prefix). For more on Hebrew KeyLinking, see the article on Hebrew homographs and the article on customizing Hebrew KeyLink preferences.
Personal Bible Study Tools Addin
Bible Reading Plans are now user documents, and can be created and edited through the File menu. As a result, the Tools | Personal Bible Study Tools | Bible Reading Plan report is no longer available.
To create or edit a Bible Reading Plan, go to File | New or File | Open.
A Bible Reading Plan is a Bible reading schedule based on a range of biblical passages. You can create and save multiple reading plans and also access them from the Home page. The schedule and content of the reading plan are fully customizable.
A new visual filter has been added to make it easier to follow along with your Bible Reading Plan in your preferred Bible version. This feature lets you know where to begin and end your scheduled Bible reading by inserting text notes in your Bible. The color and style options in this dialog control the display of the inserted text.
Compare Parallel Bible Versions Addin
A new Compare Pericopes report has been added to the Compare Parallel Bible Tools Addin (this addin is only available in Scholar's Library or as a separate purchase).
Pericopes are section headings inserted in many Bible versions by the translators/editors. It is useful to compare pericopes in order to get a sense of how various editors have broken up the Bible text into meaningful units. Then you can easily compare your own divisions with those of others.
The Tools | Bible Tools | Compare Pericopes report displays multiple pericope sets in a side-by-side layout, graphically showing the range of every pericope for a book of the Bible in each pericope set you choose.
Power Tools Addin
(Note: This addin is not installed by default, but is available to all users at no charge. Follow these directions to install it.)
Fuzzy Search is used to find a phrase of text in a resource when you aren't sure exactly how that phrase is actually worded. This is a highly useful search option, since most of us have a less-than-perfect memory...you could even say it is fuzzy. Perhaps you memorized a verse long ago in KJV, for example, but can't remember all of it or are trying to find it in a newer version. Fuzzy Search is just what you need.
Simply type the words you remember (e.g., "take this cup from me") and Fuzzy Search will find phrases that are similar to the phrase you enter. Fuzzy Search doesn't assume that every word you enter will be found, but ranks each result to form a list of most likely hits.
