Logos Bible Software Series X v2.0
What's New! (July 2003)
The Libronix Digital Library System, the technology underneath Logos Bible Software Series X, just keeps getting better.
We’ve listened to your feedback and made lots of improvements; we’ve also been working hard on new addin modules that will be available soon--separately and as part of collections. Below you’ll find the improvements and new features listed by component.
Updates to the Libronix DLS are free over the Internet — and can be downloaded from within the application! Just connect to the Internet, open Libronix, and click Tools | Libronix Update. Remember, the system will only update the addin modules and resources you already own.
If you’d rather get the updated code and resources on a CD-ROM, instead of downloading them, you’ll find them on the following new releases:
- The United Bible Societies' New Testament Handbook Series (20 Volumes)
- Qumran Sectarian Manuscripts
- The Biblical Languages Supplement
- Baker's New Testament Commentary Set
New in the Shell
The “shell” is the core Libronix Digital Library System and is available to everyone who uses a Libronix DLS-based product.
A brand new help system is available with the shell, and every addin module now delivers more detailed help through this new, searchable, browsable interface.
The shell now supports a “document model”. You can use File | New and File | Open from the application menu to create and open documents like note files, word lists, etc. Other addin modules make more document types available, like the re-written Prayer List in the Personal Bible Study Tools addin.
A major new feature is Visual Filters, accessed through the View menu. Visual Filters are mini-programs that let you markup a resource automatically. The shell replaces the Auto Summarization report with a new Summarization filter, which highlights the most important sentences in a resource article inline, instead of copying them into a separate report.
Other upcoming addin modules offer even more powerful Visual Filters, including one that will highlight Greek or Hebrew text by morphology.
Searching speed has been improved for the whole system.
You can now choose from a few different styles for dialog boxes and reports, customizing the look of the application.
You can choose a specific font while editing a note.
You can use the Zoom feature to resize the table of contents and locator panes in a resource window.
Searching support has been improved for a number of languages (you’ll see new texts soon) and many other small internal improvements and optimizations have been made.
Bible Tools Addin
The Bible Tools Addin delivers much of the Bible-specific functionality of the system and has received a number of exciting improvements.
The Bible Tools Options dialog box (Tools | Options | Bible Tools) gives you direct control over a number of Bible-specific features, ranging from the color used for “Words of Christ” to your preferred font, size, and transliteration scheme for Greek, Hebrew, and Syriac text.
Support for pericopes throughout the product lets you easily work with whole passages, not just verses. (A “pericope” is a section of text – like the named stories or passages within your study Bible.)
Logos lets you type a title for a pericope almost anywhere you can type a Bible reference, automatically displaying a drop-down box with suggested matches from your favorite Bible versions. (Type “Jesus and fig tree” and Logos suggests “The Barren Fig Tree: Matthew 21:18-22”.)
If you type a Bible reference a drop-down appears that suggests whole pericopes you might want to expand your passage to. So if you type “jn 2.4” in the Passage box of a report Logos will suggest “The Wedding at Cana: John 2:1-12”. If you choose the titled pericope the title will even be included in your report – great for printing things out!
The Passage Guide has been improved to allow you greater control over which sections are shown, what resources are used for specific sections, and to let you create your own sections based on any collection of books you choose.

A brand-new "Parallel Passages" report, available on the Tools | Bible Tools menu, lets you look at gospel parallels, OT-in-NT quotations, parallels in Kings and Chronicles, etc., depending on the datasets you have. (A few datasets are available in the downloadable update; more will be included in upcoming collections.)
The Greek and Hebrew morphological search dialog boxes support a new, easier to use format for selecting morphological tags.
With appropriately updated resources (like Chapman’s and Putnam’s Greek and Hebrew Insert’s) you can jump from morphological parsings straight to their descriptions.
The floating “Information Window” has been dramatically improved specifically for use with Bibles. Once you choose Display Information from the right-click menu (or use the Ctrl+Right-Click shortcut) your floating information window will open, showing Strong’s Numbers, morphological parsings, or whatever other information is “behind” the word your mouse was over. This information window will stay active, automatically updating as you move the mouse over other words. And over morphologically-tagged Greek and Hebrew texts this window will even show the first KeyLink lexicon entry for the root word!
Personal Bible Study Tools Addin
The Prayer List has been completely rewritten and turned into a very powerful tool.
Now available via the document model (use File | New to create a new Prayer List, or File | Open to open an existing one), the Prayer List supports recurring prayer items organized by category and appearing on different schedules.
The Bible Reading Plan supports a new “Calendar” format for display and has improved support for international date formats.
Logos Bible Software Addin
The Logos Bible Software addin delivers the Home Page for Logos Bible Software. This page has been given a brand new look, which, combined with the new global support for pericopes, makes it even easier to get right into your Bible study.

Graphical Query Editor Addin
The Graphical Query Editor is a very powerful new tool for building complex queries in a way that’s visually appealing and easier to understand than a purely textual representation. Combined with the Advanced Search dialog box it is especially useful for doing complex searches in morphologically tagged Greek and Hebrew texts. (Searching for the Granville-Sharp rule in Greek, for example.)

This addin is not installed by default in all configurations, but is available if you check it when running Libronix Update.
Rebuilt Resources
Significant changes have been made to a number of resources to fix bugs/typos, improve support for more modern Unicode fonts, etc. The new pre-pub products will carry as many of these updated resources as possible in order to save you downloading time. The resources are also available on our FTP site at ftp://ftp.logos.com/lbxbooks.
