Counseling Collection (9 Vols.)

Why doesn’t God answer my prayers? If you are a pastor, minister, or Christian counselor, you’ve had lots of people ask you that. Is He listening, or does He not care? That’s typically their second question. The fact is many of us who receive Jesus as our Savior, continue to cling to our emotional and spiritual baggage as if they are precious gold. We bind our anger, depression, traumatic memories, guilt and unforgiveness close to our hearts and wonder why God is deaf. These nine excellent resources show us how to loosen the strongholds that have kept us from walking with God, and kept God from sharing with us the keys to His kingdom. You will learn how to apply God’s principles and promises to overcome those things that block a deeper relationship with God.

Bob Gass explains how to turn your pain and failure into God’s purpose for your life. Ray Comfort, the internationally known preacher, tells us from his own experience with panic attacks how to overcome them by using the power of Scripture. The five books by Liberty Savard remind us how to take the promises of Jesus and make them real and powerful in our lives. Using biblical principles and prayer, she shows us how to break free from the many obstacles that entangle us. Dr. Baars helps us see emotions through a Christian perspective and learn how to arrive at a spiritually-mature, emotionally-healthy life.

Forgetting Your Past: Turn Your Pain Into Purpose

  • Bob Gass
  • 135 pages | Bridge-Logos Publishers | 2000

How do we forget past betrayal, disappointments, divorce, abandonment? You’ve heard the saying, “I can forgive, but not forget.” In Forgetting the Past Bob Gass shows you how to turn your pain into purpose, and draw from your greatest disappointments the wisdom and strength you need to build a better future. You do not have to just survive your past; you can soar above it. Among many of the lessons you will read, Gass notes that there are four essential ones: refusing to live like a victim, isolating the problem, letting God’s perfect love heal your scars, and giving to others the healing you received from God. The chapters are short enough to act as daily meditations or devotionals. In them you will learn to receive God’s grace, make restitution, and develop the right attitude about yourself.

Shattering Your Strongholds, Updated and Expanded

  • Liberty Savard
  • 158 pages | Bridge-Logos Publishers | 1992

Living out our faith in daily life. Sounds easy. But lots of things can and do get in the way. Memories that are deceptive, bad habits that need to go, attitudes that are crippling, thinking patterns that result in chaos. The examples are too numerous. How do we forgive ourselves for and repent from the persistent problematic issues that hinder our walk with God? How do we set ourselves free from the things that bind us? In Shattering Your Strongholds, Liberty Savard offers more than just helpful hints.

Shattering Your Strongholds is a book that is born out of the author’s personal desire to live the full life that is offered by our Lord. We do not have to live a life enslaved by the entanglements of Satan. There is freedom available for all. Shattering Your Strongholds can change your life. Take the walk with Liberty Savard and you too can rise to a higher level of “joy-filled living.”
—Ron Shaw, National Director, Reinhard Bonnke Ministries

The Keys of the Kingdom prayer principles found in Matthew 16:19 give all believers untold power to free themselves from the unsurrendered guilt, deception, wrongful thinking and other strongholds that keep them from experiencing God’s full plan for their lives. Liberty Savard blends personal experience with biblical principles to offer a practical, hands-on approach to help you conquer harmful patterns of thought and behavior. Step-by-step you will learn to recognize the strongholds in your life and begin to understand why you have these problems and how to apply God’s principles and promises to overcome them. The two chapters on binding and loosening are especially helpful in gaining an understanding about what to cleave to and what to refrain from. As we daily bind our minds to the mind of Christ and our will to the will of our Father, we can experience a deeper level in our Christian walk.

Here is a refreshing look at a truth that may be just what you need to walk in the freedom that Christ has destined for His own. This is a practical book, born out of experience, and shared with warmth and clarity.

Breaking the Power

  • Liberty Savard
  • 251 pages | Bridge-Logos Publishers | 1997

Paul tells us to “continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling” (Phil. 2:12). While our human spirit becomes gloriously reunited with the Spirit of God through salvation, the unsurrendered soul (the old nature) continues to react in our lives, reinforcing its manipulation through unmet needs, unhealed hurts and unresolved issues.

Are you having problems overcoming wrong behaviors? Do you find it difficult knowing how to receive God’s unconditional love? Are you still living in the torment of fear and doubts? Are you spiritually exhausted, and feel as though you're only occasionally winning the battle against the enemy? Remember, Christ has already won the battle!Breaking the Power will show you how to release the fear and pain holding you captive by allowing God's mercy and grace to guide you toward a life of faith and freedom. It offers the road map, the keys, and the plan to take your journey to freedom right through the middle of your unsurrendered soul’s graveyard. As you let fear, doubt and pain flow out of your life, you will discover God’s mercy and grace come streaming in. Your life will be one of cooperation “with” God, instead of forever being worked “on” by God.

As a 48-year-old woman who has been unhappy most of my life and a straddling the fence Christian, I had no idea until now, why I am so unhappy and how our unsurrendered soul keeps us from getting the blessings God so desires to grant us. I now suffer from panic attacks and am on medication. The prayers in this book to assist you to release strongholds and realize that the past is the past and must be let go has been a liberating experience. I feel happy and more equipped to let Go and let God. This book has prompted me to order two other books from Liberty Savard. Her method of writing is clear, concise and to the point. I could not put this book down and intend to keep it near me daily as a reference. This book is a must have!
—Amazon reviewer
This book really helped me to identify patterns that kept me locked fighting the same battles day after day. I learned to pray binding and releasing prayers for myself and others and began to see change and growth in areas and relationships that I had previously thought were "my cross to bear on earth."

Beyond Shattered Strongholds

  • Liberty Savard
  • 268 pages | Bridge-Logos Publishers | 2005

Liberty Savard explains in this sequel how learning to make your soul cooperate with God’s healing is only the beginning. The next level is to step out of “self” and onto the world’s field to produce fruit for the Kingdom. Here you will again find guidelines against which to measure yourself to help you focus upon your ultimate purpose on earth—becoming a fruit-bearer in your generation, in your area of influence, and in your piece of the world.

This book is all about giving you the keys to fruitful prayer that rips out “those negative landing strips in your soul,” those areas in our lives that other people and Satan use to keep us from experiencing all that God wants to do in our lives. It is no longer about you, about me; it is about bearing fruit for God’s Kingdom.

Liberty has a way of teaching foundational truths, infused with fresh revelation, that make you feel compelled to take immediate action. Then she breaks down those truths and lays out an understanding of how you can walk them out in your own life.

The Unsurrendered Soul

  • Liberty Savard
  • 311 pages | Bridge-Logos Publishers | 2002

Still struggling to overcome anger, depression, neediness, and unforgiveness? Still hoarding fearful and wounded emotions as well as the hard consequences of wrong choices you have made? The culprit behind your struggles could be your own unsurrendered soul. The deception that tells us we can live our lives the way we want to intensifies our inner conflicts, our fears, and our painful memories, blocking out God’s help.

The Apostle Paul said, "I truly delight in God's commands, but it's pretty obvious that not all of me joins in that delight. Parts of me covertly rebel, and just when I least expect it, they take charge..." (Romans 7:22-23, The Message)

Most Christians understand that this inner struggle is a symptom of the transition from the old creature we WERE to the new creation we ARE in Christ. Yet many Christians do not know how to cooperate with this seemingly difficult transition. Jesus Christ has given us the Keys to the Kingdom to help us not only cooperate with, but to actually accelerate, this important life-changing process!

In The Unsurrendered Soul, best-selling author Liberty Savard shares her understanding of the principles of the Keys of the Kingdom prayers. These prayer keys are taken from the promise in Matthew 16:19 where Jesus said, "I will give you the keys of the kingdom; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Learn how these prayer keys can change your entire life as well as the lives of those you love. The Unsurrendered Soul will help you to experience a wonderful new freedom in your walk with Him.

Feeling and Healing Your Emotions

  • Conrad W. Baars, MD.
  • Edited and Revised by Suzanne M. Baars, M.A., Bonnie N. Shayne, M.A.
  • 325 pages | Bridge-Logos Publishers | 2003

What is mental health? Can we actually use our emotions for our benefit, or are we merely assigned to cope with them? How do we know if we are leading our children to emotional maturity? Feeling and Healing Your Emotions offers guidelines for emotional and spiritual wholeness. In simple question-and-answer format, you will learn that all emotions are positive aspects of our nature and that a fully developed emotional life can strengthen one’s spiritual life.

Humanistic psychology often fails to treat the whole person because it ignores the spiritual dimension. This resource shows how the Bible is perfectly consistent with a psychology that combines findings in modern clinical psychiatry with centuries-old Christian beliefs about the body, mind, and spirit.

The principles outlined herein are timeless. Feeling and Healing Your Emotions continues to aid mental health professionals and those in pastoral ministry to teach healthy ways of living, fostering psychological wholeness and healing. It also shows nonprofessional Christians that the function of the emotions is essential for leading a happy and virtuous life. The author clearly wrote this with the intention to make available to the average person important knowledge regarding the emotions and their role in a Christian’s life.

A great read, especially for Christians who desire a better understanding of the emotions and want a way to integrate and use them more maturely in life. Anything by Dr. Baars is good, but this book is particularly wonderful. He avoids using too much technical language, and explains the concepts thoroughly. This is definitely for the average reader, and I will recommend it to anyone wanting to know more about Christian psychology.
