This is the best New Testament Survey for people who need a proper grounding in the subjects, people, occupations, places, and things in the New Testament. It gives a good context for understanding and further studies. It is useful for pastoral applications and teaching. Some surveys and introductions focus only on questions of various critical views, authorship questions, date of writing, etc. but have very little useful knowledge to the average pastor. This one is different and gives a good grounding. I can't wait until it comes out in Logos.

We've used the New Testament Survey in our course and personally as well. I strongly recommend it for study as it provides the much helpful context for the epistles.

This text is being used in this semesters New Testament course where I am pursing my BRE. I am finding Tenney's writing style and the presentation of the material to be very well done and an interesting and enjoyable read. Students should note that the current printing of the text must be a different form factor from the 1985 printing as my copy of the 1998 text contains 454 pages and I occasionally need to adjust my readings by a page or two to match the required reading from the current text. At page 343 my 1998 edition is in sync with the current print edition. I was considering purchasing the e-text version but noted it contains 474 pages and would not improve my current situation. Regardless of format, this is a text I want to keep as a future ministry resource.
