Overview

The Enchiridion Patristicum is a classic reference work in the field of patristic categorization and reference. First compiled in 1911, this work has gone through over 24 editions and Rouët de Journel’s numeric referencing system is still cited by modern patristic reference works, including John Willis’ Teachings of the Church Fathers and William Jurgens’ Faith of the Early Fathers. Arranged chronologically and thoroughly indexed according to subject, this work is necessary for any bibliography on early church history or any study on ancient ecclesiastical writings.

Written in Latin and providing both Greek and Latin sources, the Enchiridion Patristicum is an excellent starting point for topical research in patristics while also being an ending point for citing the Fathers in their own terms. In Logos, referencing this benchmark text is easier than ever. Citations to the text in your other Logos books lead you right to the source, and you can look up Latin and Greek words with just a click to bring you to your favorite dictionaries. Additionally, the Enchiridion Patristicum cites its sources, which lead you straight to the primary texts in your library.

About Rouët de Journel

Marie Joseph Rouët de Journel (1880–1974) was a highly respected French Catholic Jesuit priest. He entered the Jesuit order at the young age of 17, and despite being originally trained in patristics, he spent much of his later life publishing books, pamphlets, and tracts intended to reunite the Slavic nations with the Catholic Church.

According to the description, it is ' thoroughly indexed according to subject'; unfortunately, it isn't indexed at all. Still useful, although a later edition might be even more so, particularly with a subject index.
