Overview

In today's world, the basic building blocks of a Christian world view are often missing in people's lives. To help fill in this missing information, The 52 Greatest Stories of the Bible presents a foundational, clear synthesis of the most significant narratives of the Bible along with the implications and applications of these interrelated stories. It presents the big story in such a way that it will do the following: connect the dots for readers of the Bible, demonstrating how each individual story is really one chapter in the larger story; show how Jesus is the point of the story, especially his death and resurrection; and build a biblical world view by showing the reader how the Bible answers the ultimate questions of life.

“He moved easily among the people and had the same message for all of them: This is it! This is what you’ve been waiting for! The Kingdom is at last so close that you can reach out your hand and grab hold of it! And, oh, the people wanted to hear it, wanted to believe it! But they had no way of understanding what He meant, so He was constantly misunderstood.” (Page 237)

“Creativity. Order and design. Diversity. Rest. People. Community. These are the priorities of God’s heart as it is revealed in the first two chapters of the Bible. Are they ours as well?” (Page 21)

“Knowing that we might struggle with His timing, God calls us to live with hope and trust in that which He has promised—in spite of the fact that we don’t see it yet. He calls us to look back at His track record. He calls us to look forward to the coming fulfillment of His promises.” (Page 201)

“Your circumstances do not reveal God’s character. In fact, the challenge of living Christianly in our world is to view our circumstances in light of God’s unchanging character.” (Page 201)

“Each leaf is unique, individual, different. Each flower, each snowflake, each person appears to be handcrafted by God.” (Pages 20–21)

I enjoy each day's reading.....good for thought absorption! Each day addressed either a narrative, or our values,or actions, or our Christian beliefs. Good, gives me something thought provoking.
