Bible Study Saved My Life

Bible Study not only saved my life but led me to a new a new way of living as well! After growing in an abusive home and thirty one years of drug and alcohol abuse I had reached a point, at the age of 43, at which I thought I would most likely die before ever knowing any kind of peace. With a counselor’s help I was able to stay off drugs and alcohol for a year. At the end of that year I realized I was the same person, I had just removed the drugs and alcohol. I was still miserable and I felt that if something did not change I would probably return to drugs and alcohol. I read the AA big book and inferred from it that one needs a spiritual life.

I decided to read the Bible to try and have a spiritual life. After reading the Bible I was no longer the same person I was when I set out to read it. God had changed my heart! I was loved and forgiven! I wanted more! I read the Bible again and wanted still more. I realized that it would take Bible study to get a better understanding of who God is and what I was to do with this new life He had given to me. I found a Bible study program at a local church called Precepts Bible Study. The Precepts Bible Study program teaches the inductive Bible study method. I did a number the Precept Bible Studies and then became a Precepts Bible Study leader. After a few years of leading Precepts Bible studies I yearned not only for still more knowledge of God but I had also gained a desire for others to know Him as well, especially those that are still suffering in their addictions and afflictions. At the age of 52 I applied to and was accepted to a Seminary. I am now working on a MA degree in counseling with a chaplaincy track. Bible study is not only a major part of the curriculum where I attend school but Bible study has become a way of life. Logos Bible study soft ware has become an important part of my Bible study time. Through reading the Bible I found a new life, through Bible study I am learning how to live out that new life!

Praise our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!!!!
