Bible Study Over the Years
Bible study over the years has become easier and easier, and yet harder and harder. When I was younger, I was eager to learn the Bible, and my Bible study was basically in preparation for teaching young children Bible stories of the great heroes of the faith: David and Goliath, Daniel in the Lions Den, Moses in the Reeds. I loved those stories, and learned them right along with the children. I taught so much, I didn't have a lot of time for "adult Bible study". I didn't know how much I missed until I joined a group called Bible Study Fellowship(BSF), and interdenominational group of believers (over 100 women!). The depth of the Bible study was phenomenal! I had no idea there was so much to learn, and delved into our study of the Book of Romans with great zest! Meeting with small groups of women to compare, and elaborate on the questions we had answered daily in our Bible Study at home, added so much meaning and understanding what we had read that week, that I then realized one of the reasons that our Lord wanted us to meet together each week---that we could glorify Him as we continued in Bible study with each other. Wow, Praise God for helping us to study and understand His Word, thru study and then the mingling of minds and spirits. I am now involved in a much smaller group study, using the Believing God series by Beth Moore. One of our members is doing it online, 1500 miles away, using e-mail, and Logos Software.
Our local church is having a Bible study on the minor prophets. I learned how much history is involved in Old Testament studies! Again, Logos gave has been a big help in my Bible study. I'm in my 6th decade of life, now, and am still learning. My prayer is that God will give the increase to all those who seek Him thru the study of His Word!
