Bible Study and You
Go to the source. The Bible is God’s personal word to you. Books, sermons, DVDs, websites, magazines, etc. are helpful. But nothing can replace personal Bible study. God seeks you in the Bible; God meets you in the Bible; God upholds you in the Bible.
The Bible is as relevant today as when it was written. As you undertake personal Bible study, you find that the situations described, the practical advice given, and the wisdom imparted address the same universal human needs today as it did centuries and millennia ago. It answers the same universal questions about human origin, purpose and destiny.
Personal Bible study connects you with the Creator of the universe. God reveals Himself personally in the Bible. He shows His nature; He shows His work; He shows His purpose. You discover that He is the Source of life. He gives a sense of meaning for your life.
Personal Bible study connects you with the Redeemer of the universe. God reveals His love for His creation in the Bible. He personalizes the great gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, for you. You discover that He is the Source of new life for you. He gives you assurance for life and for the life to come.
Personal Bible study connects you with the Sustainer of the universe. He speaks directly to you, to your situation, to your need. He provides direction to you as you meditate on His words, as you memorize His words, as you speak His words. He provides guidance for the immediate concern in your life and hope for the future.
Bible study need not be complicated, nor difficult, nor time consuming. A few chapters, a few verses, even a few words are enough to set the tone for the day, to get you through the day, to help you reflect on the day. Life takes on new meaning when you include a few words from God.
