Bible Study on the Go
Fresh out of seminary, my first six months of ministry have looked more like "circuit rider" than local church pastor. That’s because I was hired by a church nearly three hours from home. Like those 18th century frontier evangelists, I've traveled hundreds of miles each week to preach while waiting for our house to sell so we can relocate. But unlike those early itinerate ministers, I’ve had the distinct advantage of a library that travels with me.
Thanks to Logos Bible Software, I can cover great distances and ever-changing study environments without ever compromising the message of God’s Word. So whether I'm sitting in my church office, the local library, the coffee shop, or my own dining room table, I’m just a mouse click away from over 1700 resources to facilitate Bible Study.
My Logos library has become an invaluable partner in Bible Study and sermon preparation. The Compare Parallel Bible Versions provides a colorful contrast of my NASB with other common translations. The Theological Journal Library quickly locates pertinent, scholarly articles that I would otherwise never have time to consult. The Keylinking tool performs basic Greek and Hebrew word studies that keep me involved in the original languages. And the Topic Browser scans dozens of dictionaries and encyclopedias for any subject I want to explore during my Bible Study.
Since I was a young child, Bible Study has been an integral part of my life. I grew up in a Christian family, went to church regularly, and attended a Christian school. Then, it was off to a Christian college, followed by seminary. By God’s grace, I’ve experienced thousands of sermons, Bible studies, and quiet times. But the Bible is increasingly current, challenging, and convicting. As John Owen said, “In the waters of life, the Divine Scriptures, there are shallows and there are deeps; shallows where the lamb may wade; and deeps where the elephant may swim.”
Because the Bible is God’s very Word, Bible Study is one of life’s noblest activities. Sometimes my study is for next Sunday’s sermon; other times it’s just to sit at the feet of Jesus. But at all times, and in all places, I believe there’s no single tool more befitting for serious Bible Study than Logos Bible Software.
