Unlocking New Books

It is easy to add books to your library through our state-of-the-art book unlocking process. Unlockable books are full-featured titles or collections of titles that in many cases do not need to be shipped on disc, saving you time and money. With unlock resources you spend your time actually using your book the day you order it instead of waiting for it to arrive by mail.

There are two ways to unlock new books and content for your electronic library:

  1. Unlock via the Internet and Libronix Update
  2. Unlock in your Logos Bible Software

Unlocking Books Online - www.logos.com/products

Many resources are small enough to be downloaded easily over the internet. This makes getting your unlockable books incredibly simple. Here’s how it works:

  1. Find a book you’re interested in by navigating over to htttp://www.logos.com/products. The image below is an example of a book that may be downloaded and unlocked.
  2. Click and complete the checkout process.
  3. Once you have successfuly completed the checkout process, click the button to download this update file, which will install your new book.
  4. Double-click on the update.lbxupd file to add your new book and its license to your library.
  5. That's it. Libronix DLS will discover your new book and will be able to start studying right away!

Unlocking books in your Logos Bible Software

You will often find that you have extra files on your installation discs that are “locked” or unavailable. Or you may have downloaded some files from http://www.logos.com/, but have not yet purchased and unlocked them. The following explains how to unlock files that are already on your computer:

  1. In your Logos Bible Software, click on the  Unlock Resources button in the toolbar.
  2. In the Unlock Resources dialog, you will be able to choose from the locked resources discovered on your hard drive or installation CD. Unlockable books are discovered but not viewable and have the Unlock icon next to them.
  3. Select the files you want to unlock
  4. Choose whether you want to unlock via the Internet with your credit card and billing information. Or you can unlock over the phone by calling 1-800-875-6467 and unlock your resources with a salesperson.
  5. Your Logos Bible Software will walk you through the unlock process. Once this is complete, this resource or resources will be added to your library and become accessible for immediate use.

Pre-Pubs - www.logos.com/prepub

The Pre-Pub (or Pre-Publication) system is one of the best ways to add the latest new resources to your library. The program is simple: Before we put a Pre-Pub product through development, we offer a special discount for users who pre-order the product. This is the “Gathering Interest” phase.

During this early phase, we are able to discern how much interest there is for a particular product, which helps us know how to better choose which products to move forward with and produce.

You can make a preorder at our low price and be guaranteed that price when we ship the product. Once we meet our production costs and see that the product is in fact something customers want, the Pre-Pub moves into the “Under Development” phase, where it stays until it is ready to ship .

If you order a Pre-Pub product during the “Gathering Interest” or “Under Development” phases, your price is locked in for the amount shown at the time you placed your order no matter how high it goes later on. Once a Pre-Pub product is ready to ship, the price will go up (sometimes dramatically) and will most likely never be available at the lowest Pre-Pub price again.

The Pre-Pub program is an exciting part of the Logos community. It often features some of our most popular new titles or collections of similar works that we feel customers would find useful bundled together.

If you are looking for new titles to expand your library with, watch for Pre-Pub NewsWire announcements and http://www.logos.com/prepub.

Community Pricing - www.logos.com/communitypricing

If you thought the Pre-Pub program sounded good, wait until you hear about Community Pricing! The Community Pricing program is all about getting more books onto your computer at the cheapest price possible.

We calculate how much it will cost to produce a title; when Logos users together place bids to total that amount, we produce the title. All we have to do is meet our production costs in this phase, so the more users who bid, the lower the price goes!

The bottom line is...

  • If a title makes it into production, all orders get placed at the exact same price
  • It doesn’t matter how high your bid is; if the final price is lower, you get the low price!
  • You determine which books get published first!

Bidding on Community Pricing titles is easy!

  1. In your Web account at http://www.logos.com/, enable Easy Ordering by entering your credit card information and clicking “Save”.
  2. Browse the Community Pricing titles at www.logos.com/communitypricing to find ones that you would like to own.
  3. Click on the highest price you’d be willing to pay for each title. Just one click sets your bid; to cancel at any time, just click Cancel.

Once a Community Pricing title reaches 100% of the production cost from bids, it will move into the Pre-Pub program, where the price will increase to Pre-Pub price and it will be marked in the “Under Development” phase.

Once development finishes, this product will ship and people who bid for it during Community Pricing will be billed for the lowest price. It’s a very sweet deal, for our members of course!

To view the current Community Pricing titles, visit www.logos.com/communitypricing. To learn more about the Community Pricing program and bidding system, visit www.logos.com/communitypricing/about

While you’re there, try bidding on a product that interests you. Help us produce your favorite work for the lowest cost to you! You’ll find that it’s fun too!

3rd Party Publishing Products

Along with publishing our own licensed electronic books, Logos Bible Software also teams up with a number of publishers to release products within their own lines. For example, the Word Biblical Commentary and the MacArthur LifeWorks Library from Thomas Nelson/Word, The Essential IVP Reference from InterVarsity Press, and Theological Journals from Galaxie Software just to name a few.

By pairing up with traditional print publishers, Logos is able to help provide new content for our users and share our amazing tools with a wider audience! It’s a win-win situation!

Most often, these products are sold as boxed products. While they are separate from our boxed base package products, they are still Libronix books and are a great way to expand your library. If you are in your local Christian bookstore and spot the red Libronix DLS logo on the box, you can be confident that those books will integrate into your Logos Bible Software the same way that a product purchased direct from Logos does.
