The author describes his treatment of the internet as "neither a rant nor a rave", meaning he does not view the Christian's use of the internet as necessarily good or bad. The purpose of this resource is to cause one to reflect on the trends that are sweeping through modern society via the uses or misuses of the internet. Some negativity is necessary so as not to encourage the worship of technology, an increasingly prevalent trend especially among younger computer users. A main tenet of the book is that the internet can be used as a tool, but putting faith in the technology rather than the message is where many internet users (Christians included) sometimes become ineffective or just plain incorrect.
