The first session of Princeton Theological Seminary commenced on the twelfth day of August 1812. On the seventeenth day of May 1912, its one-hundredth session closed. Biblical and Theological Studies: A Commemoration of 100 Years of Princeton Seminary was prepared by the members of the faculty of the seminary in commemoration of the completion of the seminary's first century of theological education. This milestone volume contains writings from some of Princeton's most distinguished faculty—all but one being a former student thereof—providing a look into the spiritual heritage that has made Princeton what it is.

Contributing Authors

Francis Landey Patton (1843-1932): A graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, where later he was Stuart Professor "of the relation of philosophy and science to the Christian religion" (a chair founded for him). In 1902 he became president of PTS.

Benjamin Breckinridge Warfield (1851-1921): Studied mathematics and science at Princeton University and graduated in 1871. In 1873, he decided to enroll at Princeton Theological Seminary, where he was taught by Charles Hodge. Warfield became Professor of Theology at Princeton, where he taught from 1887–1921. History remembers Warfield as one of the last great Princeton Theologians.

Geerhardus Vos (1862-1949): First Professor of Biblical Theology, at Princeton Theological Seminary. He remained at Princeton for 39 years, where he taught such eminent men as J. Gresham Machen, John Murray, Ned B. Stonehouse, and Cornelius Van Til.

Robert Dick Wilson (1856-1930): Graduate of Princeton University. Was the William Henry Green Professor of Semitic Languages and Old Testament Criticism at Princeton Theological Seminary. Among his other works, he contributed to the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia.

Caspar Wistar Hodge, Jr. (1830-1891): Professor of New Testament Literature and Greek Exegesis in Princeton Theological Seminary. Youngest son of Charles Hodge.

John Gresham Machen (1881-1937): Professor of New Testament, Princeton Theological Seminary. Founder of Westminster Theological Seminary.

Oswald Thompson Allis (1880-1973): Taught in the Department of Semitic Philology at Princeton Theological Seminary.
