This collection includes two resources: an "expanded translation" of the New Testament and Wuest's well-known and widely admired word studies in the Greek New Testament.

The New Testament : An Expanded Translation

Unlike other versions of the New Testament, this translation uses as many English words as are necessary to bring out the richness, force, and clarity of the Greek Text. Intended as a companion to, or commentary on, the standard translations, Wuest's "expanded translation" follows the Greek word order and especially reflects emphases and contrasts indicated by the original text.

From the Preface

It is hoped that this expanded translation will give the reader a clearer understanding of certain words used in previous translations. Some of these words are not the translation of the Greek word but its transliteration. Take, for example, the word “blasphemy” in the phrase “the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost.” This word is not itself an English word but merely a word formed by substituting English letters for Greek. Therefore the translation here given renders the famous phrase thus: “impious and reproachful speech injurious to the divine majesty of the Holy Ghost.” Another example is Romans 6:3 (“baptized into Jesus Christ”), where “baptized” is a transliteration rather than a translation. The translation here given is: “placed in Jesus Christ.”

The reader is cautioned against thinking that this translation is full of interpretation and paraphrase. The translator has held very closely to the earliest and most accurate Greek texts. In isolated instances he has found it necessary to include interpretation or paraphrase in order to bring out clearly a very difficult passage.

Wuest’s Word Studies in the Greek New Testament 

These studies and translations of the Greek New Testament are simplified commentaries on the Greek text for the Bible student who is not conversant with the Greek language. The set includes commentaries on the Gospels and Epistles; graphic elucidations of selected passages, words, and phrases; and devotional studies on the teachings of Jesus and the apostles.

Information on the Electronic Edition

Several structural changes were made to the Logos Bible Software edition of Kenneth Wuest’s Word Studies in the Greek New Testament.

• The order of the texts dealing with Biblical commentary has been changed to follow canonical order. Also, Mr. Wuest’s volume on Colossians and Ephesians was split so that canonical order could be maintained.
• The formatting across volumes was standardized, so that the text is now presented as a unified whole.
• Actual Greek has been generated from Mr. Wuest’s Greek transliterations; so the text now has both transliterations and actual Greek text.
• In many instances, Mr. Wuest included his own translation at the end of his commentary. For instance, in the print edition of Mr. Wuest’s commentary on Romans, his entire translation of the Book of Romans was reproduced at the end of the work. As the entire edition of Mr. Wuest’s The New Testament: An Expanded Translation is included in this collection, the extended citations, such as the above example, have been omitted to reduce search hit duplication. 
• Lastly, topics have been generated algorithmically so that the text can be searched or browsed topically for relevant material. Topics are available in three languages: English, Greek, and Transliterated.
