Update to the latest Beta release: 3.0e RC 3
| | |
|
Libronix Digital Library System 3.0e RC 3Important NotesAlpha, Beta, and RC releases are not supported. The technical support department can not
help with beta releases. Please send bug reports to titusbeta@libronix.com. - This is a Release Candidate of the software. Release Candidates are intended to be suitable for pressing onto
a CD-ROM. Only critical bugs will be fixed. RC builds should be appropriate for installation by almost any user.
- The internal format of Annotations files has changed; do not copy any Libronix DLS documents from
LDLS 3.0e RC 3 to an LDLS 2.1 (or earlier) installation.
- This release will install the basic Libronix DLS 3.0e RC 3 with several beta components.
Installing 3.0e RC 3 on a system with LDLS 2.1d (or earlier) will not install the new 3.0 addins, syntax databases, resources, or other features.
Any components you already have will be updated to their 3.0e RC 3 versions, as necessary.
Requirements- Libronix DLS 3.0e RC 3 requires
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later. You are not required to use Internet Explorer as your primary web browser, but it needs to be on your system. If you do not already have
the latest version of Internet Explorer,
you can download it here.
invisible footer text | Instructions- New Users: Download and install Libronix Update with
DLSSetup.exe (7.16 MB), then click the
Download Latest Beta button above. More information
Save DLSSetup.exe to a temporary location on your hard disk (e.g. your desktop or
C:\TEMP). When the download is finished, Double-click on the saved file's icon to run the Installation program. Follow the prompts you will see
in the installer software, accepting the default location (C:\Program Files\Libronix DLS\) for installation. This installs Libronix Update,
a Libronix application which then installs the rest of the Libronix DLS. To finish the installation, use the Download
Latest Beta button above. - 1.x Users: Please read this Important note
You can check your Libronix DLS version from the Help > About dialog in the Libronix DLS. Before Libronix Update can update your Libronix DLS installation, it must first update itself and then restart the computer. After the restart,
Update should run again automatically to finish the update. If you have a pre-2.0 version of the Libronix DLS, Libronix Update will restart your
system twice, once to install the 2.0 system components and once to install the 3.0e RC 3 system components. If you try to run the LDLS before Update runs the second time, the LDLS will fail to run since the update is incomplete. You will instead get an error
dialog with the title bar text, "LDLS.exe - Unable to Locate Component" and the text, "This application has failed to start because MSVCP70.dll was
not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." If Update fails to launch after the system restart or you get this error message, run
Update again from the Download Latest Beta button above. - 2.x, 3.0 and Beta Users: use the Download Latest Beta button
above to update your system to 3.0e RC 3
- See below for an up-to-date list of known issues for this release.
- More information about the installation and update process
The Libronix DLS installation is a two step process for the first-time user. The first step is to install Libronix Update, the second step is to use Libronix
Update to install the rest of the Libronix DLS. Once you have Libronix Update installed, you should never need to install it again, or to uninstall and reinstall
to upgrade to a new version. Libronix Update is used to keep your system up to date, to install new products from CD-ROM or the Internet and to install resources and unlocks
from our web site. Libronix Update processes Auto Update script files, files with the lbxupd extension that define a particular version of the Libronix DLS
or of a particular product. Each CD-ROM comes with an Auto Update script and our web site links to various Auto Update scripts. When Libronix Update processes an Auto Update script, it first compares your system against the script to determines what components need to be
installed or updated. This is the Initialization phase. You are then presented with a list of components that will be downloaded, as necessary, and installed.
Depending on what's available, you may see different sections, such as Required and Optional. If a section is collapsed, you can expand it by clicking the
triangle in the section's heading. You will be able to check or uncheck components in all but the Required section. When you're ready to update, click the Update button and Libronix Update will begin the download. When the download is complete, the installation
phase will begin automatically. If the download is interrupted and Libronix Update displays an error message, you can run it again to restart the process.
Files that have already been fully downloaded will not be downloaded again. You can run the Tools > Libronix Update... command from within the Libronix DLS to check for available updates and launch Libronix Update as necessary.
| Updating from a zip fileDownload the zip file to update multiple machines: - 1.x Users: Please read this Important note
- Download the 3.0e RC 3 zip file: LibronixDLS-3.0eRC3.zip
(123.14 MB).
- After updating from the zip file, click the Download Latest Beta button above to check for updates to optional
components and resources not included in the zip file.
- Using the zip file
To use the zip file, save it to your hard disk, extract its contents to a folder then run the Setup.exe in that folder. If you don't yet have
Libronix Update installed, Setup.exe will install it first, then launch it. Libronix Update will skip the download step,
installing files from the extracted folders instead. If you'd like to make a CD-ROM for installing or updatign another computer, burn all the files and folders in the extracted image onto the CD, with
the Setup folder, the Setup.exe, the AutoRun.inf and the Volume.xml files in the root folder of the CD. In most cases, updating from the Internet with the Download Latest Beta button above will result in a significantly
smaller download than downloading the zip file, as Libronix Update will only download new components or components that have changed
since your last update. The zip file also contains UI files for other languages which you might not otherwise download, as well as files that aren't
relevant to your installation. To keep the size of the zip file down, the zip file does not contain Internet Explorer. If you do not have IE 6 installed,
running Setup.exe from the zip file will fail. You can
download IE 6 here. The Internet download includes updates to a number of resources and some components that aren't included in the
zip file. After installing from a zip file, you should run Libronix Update from the Download Latest Beta Button
above in order to ensure that you have all available updates.
| Localized User InterfacesRun the Libronix DLS in your favorite language: More information If you would like to run the Libronix DLS with a non-English User Interface, you can use Libronix Update to install the UI files from one of the following
links. After installing the new UI files, you'll need to change the Libronix DLS's UI language from the Tools > Options > General... dialog's Interface tab.
Select the new language in the User Interface Language drop-down list and click OK. When you use Libronix Update to update your system in the future, the
new UI files will be updated automatically. Since the files installed by these links are version-specific, installing one of these optional interfaces will update
your Libronix DLS to 3.0e RC 3. For more information about the localization project, see Libronix DLS Interface in Other
Languages. Available languages:
Afrikaans, Albanian, Basque, Catalan, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, English (Australia), English (Canada), English (New Zealand), English (South Africa), English (United Kingdom), French, German, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish
