Logos Library System: The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.

Problem:

This error halts the installation of the Logos Library System:

C:\Windows\System32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.

It means there is a damaged file in the 16-bit subsystem. This subsystem is used by newer 32-bit versions of Windows (Windows 95 and up) to run old programs.

Solution

1. You may choose to follow the instructions in this Microsoft Knowledge Base article to repair the damaged file:

Error message when you install or start an MS-DOS or 16-bit Windows-based program

or

2. You can upgrade your Logos Library System (LLS) to Libronix, our new 32-bit application.

If LLS is already installed and the LLS books are loaded to your hard drive, Libronix will automatically find them and incorporate them into its library.

If you are attempting to reinstall LLS on a new computer where it has never been loaded:

  • Restore your LLS licenses from a backup disk in Libronix under Tools | Library Management | Restore Licenses. The backup file will be called LOGOS.LSB. If you do not have a backup you will have to contact customer service and see about getting your books unlocked through an alternative method.
  • Place the LLS CD in the drive while Libronix is open and copy the books through Tools | Library Management | Location Manager.
