Lesson 2: Overview of the Home Page
The home page is the first and best starting point for discovering the ease and power of Logos Bible Software. You can study a passage, a word, or a topic. Start your day by reading the Bible, reflect on a significant truth through a daily devotional reading, and get help in your prayer life.
Home Page
There is no easier Bible program to use than Logos Bible software, and that is mainly due to our home page. Remember, “Enter Passage, Click Go.”

Passage Guide
The passage guide enables you to quickly and easily find relevant material in your library as you study a portion of Scripture.

Bible Word Study
Do you want to discover the meaning and explore the use of a word from the Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, etc.? Perform in-depth word studies with this amazingly simple-to-use tool.
- Assignment: Watch the video (6:28, 6.4MB).

- Exercise: Open Bible Word Study and click the properties button. and identify the items listed directly under the Word category.

Topic Study
The purpose of the Topic Study is to help you get an overview of a particular subject, link you to key Biblical references, and provide additional links to related topics.
- Assignment: Watch the video (2:55, 2.0MB).

- Exercise: Type “tabernacle” in the topic search box on the home page and examine the search results.
Hint: This topic box prefers single-word topics. However, there are exceptions like “Holy Spirit.”
Bible Reading Plan
The Bible reading plan will help you schedule portions of the Scripture to read. This is an excellent tool for reading the Bible on a regular basis and can be helpful in discipleship.
- Assignment: Watch the video (3:27, 3.1MB).

- Exercise: Create a six month Bible reading plan for your favorite Bible translation that will provide a Scripture reading from the OT, NT, Psalms, and Proverbs for each day, Monday through Friday.
Hint: Use one of the presets.
Prayer List
There is no better way to organize your prayer life. This tool will help you pray more, follow up with prayer requests, review praises, and persevere in prayer.
- Assignment: Watch the video (4:37, 2.9MB).

- Exercise: Create a prayer list that has the following five categories: family, local church, local community, government, and missionaries. Create one prayer request for each category which you will pray for on a weekly basis until the completion of lesson 16.
Bible Speed Search
This is a concordance search tool. It is the easiest and fastest way to look up any word or phrase in any Bible translation.
- Assignment: Watch the video (1:27, 614KB).

- Exercise: Search for the phrase “once for all” in the KJV, NASB, NIV, and NLT.
Hint: A phrase must be placed in quotes.
