Bellingham, Washington
Bellingham is a regular on "Best Places" lists. With Bellingham Bay to the west and Mt. Baker to the east it's a city of great views.
Bellingham offers great opportunities for golfing, bicycling, skiing and snow-boarding, and hiking.
The historic Fairhaven district is also a transportation hub -- at the waterfront you can catch a train up or down the coast, a whale watching cruise through the San Juan Islands, or even a ferry to Alaska. (Bellingham is the southernmost terminus of the Alaska Marine Highway System.)
Bellingham is home to Western Washington University.
