Removing Logos Library System (LLS) once Libronix is installed

Question:

Can I delete the Logos Library System now that I have installed Libronix?

Answer:

Yes, LLS can be deleted after installing Libronix.  But it is important to remember that all your Logos books are not necessarily available in the new Libronix format. If this is the case, Libronix is still reading your Logos 2.X books, and if you delete them along with the rest of Logos, you will not have access to them any more.

To keep the Logos 2.X books you need and delete the Logos 2.X program do the following:

  • In Libronix click Tools | Library Management| Location Manager
  • In the List Resources box, select  Unlocked on Local Drives
  • Once the book list is generated, click Copy Resources to move all books to the default folder indicated in the Destination box.   Note that the Location Manager will list all the books on your drive, regardless of which folders they are found in, but it will copy only those LLS books that are not already in the Libronix Resources folder.

We recommend that you Synchronize Licenses, from Tools > Library Management, to sync your LLS licenses with your Libronix account on our server. We also recommend creating a backup of your Libronix licenses, which will include your LLS licenses. To do this:

  • In Libronix click on Tools | Library Management | Backup Licenses.
  • Choose a location to save the Libronix Licenses Backup file and click on the Save button.
  • You may also want to save a copy of the backup file to some type of removable media for safekeeping.

Removing the Logos Library System

Since LLS is a 16-bit application it will not be listed under Add and Remove Programs ('Uninstall a program' in Vista)  list in the Control Panel. To remove LLS, simply delete the following:

  • the LOGOS20 and LRSYSTEM folders on your local disk (C:) drive (or other location that may have been designated during setup;
  • the logos20.ini file (you may not see the .ini extension) in the Windows directory (C:\Windows);
  • the Logos Applications (or other LLS product) program group from the Start Menu | All Programs list and any other LLS shortcut in that list or on the Windows Desktop:
    • right-click on the group icon or program shortcut and choose Delete.
