LLS does not support long file names
The information in this article applies to the following products:
- Logos Library System software version 2.0 and above
- Logos LessonBuilder software versions 1.0, 1.1
Summary
Logos Library System software does not support long file names (longer than 8 characters). This has no significant effect on product performance or operation except in the following two circumstances:
-
The program will fail if the LOGOS20 or LRSYSTEM folder is placed within a folder that has a long file name; for example, C:\Program Files\Logos20.
-
The program will fail if the LOGOS20 or LRSYSTEM folder is renamed with a long file name; for example, C:\Bible Study Software.
If LLS was installed successfully, change the location of the program and system files:
- Move the LOGOS20 and LRSYSTEM folders directly under C:\. In other words, C:\LOGOS20 and C:\LRSYSTEM.
-
Edit the WIN.INI file to reflect the change:
- Click on Start | Run.
- Type win.ini in the Open field and click OK to open the file into Notepad.
- Scroll down in the Notepad window to the [LRSystems] section.
- Change the line System= to System=C:\LRSYSTEM.
- Change the line LLS= to LLS=C:\LOGOS20\LOGOS.EXE.
- Click on File | Save, then File | Exit.
- For Windows 95/98/ME, restart the computer for the change to take affect.
If the installation failed, remove LLS and reinstall:
- Delete the LOGOS20 and LRSYSTEM folders.
- Delete the LOGOS20.INI file, found in C:\Windows.
-
Edit the WIN.INI file to remove the [LRSystems] section:
- Click on Start | Run.
- Type win.ini in the Open field and click OK to open the file into Notepad.
- Scroll down in the Notepad window to the [LRSystems] section.
- Select the [LRSystems] section heading and the corresponding lines below it.
- Click on Edit | Delete.
- Click on File | Save, then File | Exit.
- For Windows 95/98/ME, restart the computer for the change to take affect
- Reinstall LLS: do not change the default program (C:\Logos20) and system (C:\Lrsystem) folders, except to change the drive letter when installing to a drive other than C:\.
