Maintain your Logos Library System

The information in this article applies to the following products:

  • Logos Library System software version 2.0 and above

Overview

As with any purchase, you’ll want to protect the investment you’ve made in your LLS books and Logos products.

Your Logos Library System (LLS) will function most efficiently and effectively if you take some simple precautions to protect your backup disk, compact discs and CD-ROM drive.

Maintain the LOGOS Backup Disk.

When you run Logos and click Backup Logos System Files... from the Tools menu after unlocking books, you are protecting your investment because you can use the backup disk to restore the books that you’ve purchased back to your library. But don’t stop there! Make sure that you protect the backup floppy disk from harm. Keep the disk in a safe place, where magnetism, sunlight, heat, moisture and dust cannot damage it.

Maintain the product and LLS book CDs.

The compact discs that are used to publish Logos software and books are as high a quality as possible, which makes them durable compared with some other types of storage media. However, CDs do require some care to ensure long life and reliable operation.

  • Protect the data surface (the side without printing) from soil, fingerprints, scratches or abrasion.
  • Protect the CD from extreme hot or cold temperatures.
  • Occasionally clean the CD by washing it with a mild dishwashing soap solution, rinsing it in clear water, and drying it with a soft, lint-free cloth. Make sure to let the disk completely air dry before inserting it in your CD-ROM drive.

Maintain the CD-ROM drive.

Clean the drive as directed by the manufacturer.

Logos Research Systems, Inc. recommends that you maintain the CD-ROM drive according to manufacturer’s directions if possible and occasionally clean the CD-ROM drive.

Reasonably priced CD player cleaners usually can be purchased from stores that sell electronic products such as computers or CD players.
